Hi
I need to burn a CD/ DVD of my site to display at an exhibition.

Do you think a site ripper would be the best way to do this?
I've Googled, but there are so many available...

I'd appreciate it if anyone has any recommendations smile

I think i know what your on about,

i seen some software ages ago now, where you could mount it all to a cd with all the bells and whistles as in myqsl / php etc and you could show it live.

Ive had a good look and cant find the link frown
Try a google, for site move / demo / cd

p.s
it wasnt cheap that's why i didnt buy it.

Use FTP to download the site in full then run it via localhost on your laptop. Of course, you will need to install PHP and MySQL to get the message board part working. wink

Do a backup of the database on your site, then restore it on the laptop.

You will also need to edit the board's config file to let it know about its new home.

Fully script your demo. Nothing looses me faster when a vendor comes in to demo something and they have to hunt and peck at what they are showing.

I expect that they know their product inside and out. It does not give me the warm and fuzzies when they botch it up.

Don't assume that you will remember what you planed on showing. It don't work that way. I've been on both sides of this issue. wink

Hope it goes well for you.

you could download it all to your laptop and run it locally via personal web server or iis lite. All you would have to do is have access to the internet and change the database connection back to your server. As long as port 3306 is open it will work.

Happy Customer !!!

Do a google search for mobile apps.

You can run some of them on your usb stick like Fire fox.

Cheers guys - I'm going to that that tomorrow.

The reason for this, is that the exhibition is restricted to the number of internet connections and we're not sure we can even get #one#!

And it's at the NEC!!!

Actually, it's a little more than having the port open, the username will have to allow for any host to connect with that username in the SQL server.

This is what I used in the end - HTTrack website copier - works a treat!

Using that on one laptop and a usb connection to a mobile 'phone to get proper net access on another laptop.

It's a bit of a bodge - but it looks ok.
