1. Put the hop-to box at the top somewhere as well as the bottom. Try this. Once you do, you'll be unable to live without it. It should default that way in the product.

WARNING: This can cause issues with IE6 users whos My Stuff drop down menu will be obscured by the form drop down. So that needs a work-around, but seriously the hop-to at the top is way worth it.

2. Change the hop-to to just go straight to the selected forum once selected, rather than forcing you to hit the "go" button.

I think the reason it's not up there now is due to it being pretty crowded as is at the top of a thread; but I do think one of those prettyh "manage topic" dropdowns could hold something...

nestled nicely next to the pager as a pull-down ala 'topic options' etc on both top and bottom.

you end up saving 2 vertical spaces too wink

This sounds like a hint that there's already a mod? I'm not sure where to find them for the new 7.0 version, although I had some bookmarks for mods for the older versions?

It was a hint to SD to do it; he's like my new pet Brett... (you'd have to be a UBBDever to get the joke, basically I had my friend Brett over there to do addon's which where over my head)

My users ask for the Hop-to dropdown to be at the top ALL the time. I tried doing it once, but it was way too crowded and caused enough problems for me to abandon it. But I'd love to see that as core-code, or a mod. smile

We may (:ahem:) have an upcoming mod that would put this box as a button at the top of the postlist and thread list pages over at ubbdev within a couple of nights.

Hop to should also include being able to go back to main page.

Hop to needs to be at bottom for people are scrolling down the posts and would have to go back to top of page again to move to another section

It'd be in both places in any modification; simply an "upper" button to blend in with current buttons at the top, and the standard "ugo" version at the bottom of the page

What would be really cool for this would be if it ajaxed in a color code to indicate forums with new posts into the list whenever it was dropped down, so you'd know where to bother to jump to.

no ajax required for that. but a good idea and doable. would prolly tie it to whether the board setting has that feature enabled, since there are query load issues.
wink

anyway.. this is prolly for over at ubbdev anyway. i'll bow out of this thread.
