I there a any way to prevent posts and threads in certain forums to display in the searches for recent post and recent topics?

this option was added to 7.3 although I do not have a timetable for its release

isn't this already included - just exclude the relevant forum(s) from the list of forums for latest topics etc.

It is easy therefore to exclude an admin forum for example.

Yes we have forums that even Moderators can't see. Easy to setup in the Control Panel.

BTW, just for note; in reguards to the active topics/posts; users only see forums that they have permissions to enter; so where YOU see ALL posts as the admin, a user will only show forums that they can access.

They will still see the link in active topics/posts - however they will get an error when they click upon it.

Unless the system has changed in the recent version.

However it does really need to be permissions based.

In active topics? I've not seen a private forum in AT when logged in as a guest... and i have plenty of private forums that I use for testing

Now, in the recent topics or recent forums islands on the other hand, these are possible as it's coded to allow private forums to shine through...

The admin forum is not visible to user most of the times so it is a non issue...

How do you exclude a forum from the results of the recent posts or recent topics?

Active Topics respects permissions, you'll always see every new item from the forums you have permissions to access.

Recent Topics/Posts islands don't respect permissions, the admin must select the source forums they wish to have shown, this can include private forums (if you don't want private forums listed, don't select them)
