Hi--I've setup columns for my portal page, but I can't figure out how to enable them for my forum list. I'm sure there is a checkbox someplace, but it's driving me nuts looking for it and the docs don't seem to mention it either. Clearly (this site for example) it is possible. Thanks for any help!--David Cardinal http://www.nikondigital.org

That is a user preference. Click my stuff--> My Preferences and there are two areas to tick, one for the left side and one for the right side.

That's just the thing. I don't see any option at all to turn on side columns in My Preferences for my board (while I do for example on this board). So I've been assuming there is something I need to do to enable them in the first place?--David

In the cp go to portal settings and set those settings so users can enable or disable. Also in portal layout set how you want them to be shown if you haven't yet.

Ensure that you do not have set left and right hand columns ONLY in portal. If you do this will hide them on the forums. BTW - good luck with your site - I am a professional photographer, but shoot Canon (so sorry but N*kon is a dirty word )

BTW - good luck with your site - I am a professional photographer, but shoot Canon (so sorry but N*kon is a dirty word ) Well it does say Canon on his site as well Digital info for serious shooters: specializing in Nikon & Canon Just bought the wife a Nikon digital 7.2 very small/sleek unit. Great pics. We're not pro photogs so price and size were great. Daughter has now had 2 Canon digital units that have failed within a little over a year, she is on her 3rd now.

Aha. I missed the _only_ in that checkbox. All is well now, thanks!
FWIW, the site is equally reachable as: canondigital.info ! We cater to lots of both Canon & Nikon shooters, although it does run about 3:1 Nikon.
Personally I use a Powershot SD1000 as my current P&S (which I love), although I mostly use Nikons for D-SLRs, and have owned my share of Coolpix, Fuji and even Olympus digitals over the years.
Thanks again for the quick help. We've been using UBB since 2001 when we started and its always worked well for us.--David

no worries - that description can be confusing - perhaps it should say in brackets 'and hide from forum pages'.
I have my Canon MKIII being delivered tomorrow - currently sitting in a hub in Bolton - arrived there at 20:04:26 LOL

Do I have to play that Johnny Cash song again. I've been every where. I bet the wife just loves all that traveling you do.

Ian--I envy you the MkIII. It is a _very cool_ camera. I played with one a little this Summer. Until the Nikon D3 ships there certainly isn't anything in the Nikon line that can touch it in many respects.
As to travel, yes I'm pretty maxed out. Now when I add a trip I have to stop one or I'm at risk of becoming a nomad!--David
