I'm entering my directory for uploaded avatars in control panel. I've created a folder in forums/images/avatars/upload. I've written that directory in there with and without the root URL. All efforts to "test directory" lead to a message that "directory does not exist." Example: Avatar upload storage directory: forums/images/avatars/upload Full URL to Avatar...: http://mywebsite.com (I've tried this with and without the subdirectories listed above)

Have you set permissions properly on that directory? https://www.ubbcentral.com/doc_install.phpYou can run a check of all of your directories in CP: Tools & Info / Permission Checks

It's a full path from your web root: /home/youruseraccount/public_html/forums/images/avatars/upload/ As for the URL, again, full: http://www.yoursite.tld/forums/images/avatars/upload/

It's a full path from your web root: /home/youruseraccount/public_html/forums/images/avatars/upload/ Thank you for the response. I'm clear on your suggestion on the second part, but unclear on what goes in Avatar Upload Storage Directory in terms of "home/youruseraccount/public_html/"

Enter the absolute path to your forum (as you did on installation)
Master Settings >> Db, Paths & URLS >> ||Paths & URLS||
Then add on the path to your avatar directory.

Thank you driv and Gizmo. I found an old thread where Gizmo also suggests grabbing the absolute page from the Paths & URL tab. I pasted that it, added my subdirectories, and all is well in the world of uploading avatars (I guess I should try to upload one first, but at least I passed the test).

So, as you would expect, I was able to successfully upload an Avatar but now a "?" is showing where the avatar should be. I double checked that the avatar is within the requirements of size and file type. In addition, I've confirmed that the .jpg is actually physically located on the server, which it is.

Right click on the area where the image should be and see what url you get.

Hmm. It is repeating my domain twice (and I don't see the sub-directory route). I double-checked the Full URL to Avatar Upload Storage Directory value in profiles, and it looks good - and certainly doesn't look like the URL below where the forum is currently looking for the image: http://littlepilgrimsforums.com//littlepilgrimsforums.com//2.jpg

In that full URL path.... does it start with a www. or a http://www. ??? I believe it should be the latter.

I've tried both way and each time I get the "?" and right-clicking on the image brings me to the same nonsensical URL pasted above (where it repeats my main URL twice)

PS - the stock avatars work, just not the ones uploaded by me.
