This may be an obscure request... I'd quite like to investigate the possibility of getting posts generated from inbound email to a specified email address tied to my board? Quite often i come across snippets of information or news that would be useful to sections of my userbase, but i'm not able to get online to my board to make a formal posting. What would be handy is if i could email the details to a specific address and it is converted into a post in a dedicated forum. Is this possible? I would have posted it on UBBDev, but this week i am travelling without my login file so cannot remember my credentials Cheers Baz

It is on my personal to do list to create a modification just for this feature, including posting of images that are attached.
(my personal use would be to make pictures with my cellphone camera, and mail them to the forum with a few words).

I love the idea, but there are two main ways of doing this... A. Email Piping, which most ISP's don't give you access to your aliases.db (not to mention some users, like myself, don't host their email on the server where their site is hosted). B. POPMail Reader, it'd be more difficult than just reading the data in, however it'd be compatible with just about any webhost that allows you email (including us weirdo's who host our email with outside servers to ensure stability) Would love to see a "B" option down the road by someone though ...

Option B is what I had in mind The popping and saving attachments I already have done I have to add picture resize, reading the e-mail, and posting.

I've done live reports from my Windows Mobile Phone device, by uploading images to imageshack (which resized them), and then just posting them. Kinda slow, would be faster if I could snap a pic, and hit that "e-mail" button.

You should make it so it does attachments too (other than gif/jpg/jpeg/png); that'd be nifty :x...

Cheers for the input / thoughts. I suspect my needs would be simpler, as i'm not really looking for attachment support (however why restrict it) - more needing the ability to retrieve the text content of the email.
Should i raise an enhancement request ?:)

I severely doubt that any type of email posting option will make the official featureset (at least anytime soon) so a mod would likely be in order... You should check out ubbdev.

Just looking over there now Assuming that there is a slight difference in userbase between the 2 forums i could go ahead and post the same topic there and see if it illicits more discussion.

Well, UBBDev is the official unofficial 3rd party codebase for the UBB... The official stance of Groupee is that forums running modified code don't qualify for support through the "official support" system (as issues you may be having could be due to any modifications)... Though you still can look for support here and ubbdev ...
