UBB.threads PHP Forum Software Community Forums UBB.threads 7 Version 7 Support Restrict forum so unregistered people cant post

I'm sure this is just something I'm missing, but I've tried a few times.

I have some forums where guests should be able to read posts, but not make new threads or reply to them (I dont have any where they should be able to do those things).

On the Forum Permissions page I have both Guests and Users set to Read Only (on registration members go into a different group), and only the groups I've created have Read and Write access. Despite this, unregistered people are able to create new posts and reply to others.

We recently upgraded to version 7, in the old version this worked.

Does anyone know what I'm missing?

users is already a group that people only get in when they are registered.

The only thing I know is setting guests to read only in the forum permissions tab on each forum.

I'm wondering. I have a group setup that all new members get access to. In the previous version members only got permissions from this group after they registered, is there any chance that unregistered people are getting the permissions from this group?

i.e., on the Registration Settings - Basic Options tab, the

Default Group(s) for New Members:

has one group ticked. Do they need to be registered to get that groups permissions?


Other than that, if I go to the Forum Settings page and click on the forums details and then go to the Forum Permissions tab, only Admins, Moderators, and groups I've created have Read and Write access, both users and guests have read only. Interestingly one of the groups I created only has read only permission, and for those people it works fine, they cant post or reply on that board, but unregistered people can.

Any thoughts?

Hmm, I think I worked out whats gone wrong. My fault.

I added everyone who didn't have access to my default group to it via SQL, unfortunately that means I added that group to user_id 1 (guests). So I deleted that row from the USER_GROUPS table. The problem is though, even when I logout, I can still post in that forum as anonymous. Can anyone think of anything else I might need to do to fix my mess?

Each forum has individual permissions, go to the forum permissions and remove anonymous posting.

Found the further issue, user_id 1 had cached permissions, once I deleted that row from that table its all working as expected.
