Yeah, I have one or two things I need to iron out and then we'll get this into the members area. Probably on Friday.

Hi Rick,
Wonderful news and thanks for that! My users will be happy to at least iron out the bugs in B4 (they all hassled me to update to beta for the new features)..
Do you think for B5 any bugs as they are solved you can put the fixes so we can patch if needed? That way you dont have to wait for another B to get fixes installed?
Thanks again!

So, where is the public beta? It is now Monday and it still isn't out. Or will there be a b6?

Dave uploads the files to the members area; however Rick hasn't made an anouncement about beta5 yet so I wouldn't expect it to be there.

A couple bugs and Easter prevented getting beta 5 up for everyone. I'm finishing up a few things now and then will be sending off to Dave sometime tomorrow.

As things are will B5 or the final version allow admin to mass PM members?

Little bug
when i do the mass email i get this, rather than the name Hi %%USERNAME%%,
Also needs a space about that, it is tight.
I so appreciate the work to make this great.

In the new version does the popup appear for posts when we are putting the mouse over each topic in the list of topics? It doesn't on this forum but I have seen it on others (ubbdev)?

Not for here. Rick has that turned off for this forum. It's an admin preference.

Is anything else "turned off" here? (Seems rather strange to turn functionality off on the forums for the product itself! But of course, not my choice!)

Ratings is another one.
That's my grip too, if they turned them all on then we could give feedback for changes and options more accurately. Even if they don't like it its a feature in its own right.

What is the ratings thing?
Where can I see a "fully turned on" of the latest version?
Thank you!

Rate Topics and Rate members.
Is available in all releases its not new for 7.3
I guess unless you have a "Test Set up" then you can't ?
Maybe some one has it enabled on there forums? As there are a few peeps running this beta version on live forums.

Special characters in Posts do not function any more. Can one change this again?

There WAS a bug in the topic hover thing, I'm not sure if it ever got fixed; but it'd be my guess that is why it was never enabled here (not to mention, the feature itself is annoying).

Will I, as admin, be able to mass PM all users or users in certain groups when this is out and installed in my site? E-mailing members causes too many problems

Hopefully not too much longer. A few smaller bugs to track down, and working on updating the importers and docs. We're getting closer for sure. I don't expect we'll need any more beta releases, so the next release will be the final.

1. When we upgrade to 7.3 will our forum page URLs stay the same?
2. Will the things we changed after we upgraded to 7.2.2 like headers, language files, templates and styles stay the same?
3. It would also be very helpful if we could put a forum in as a sub-forum into more than one forum. As an example I have a Missisippi River Pools 4-11 in the Minnesota Category. They are a border water river with Wisconsin so it would be nice to have that Mississppi River Pools 4-11 Forum in the Wisconsin Forum as well. I really need this feature.
Thanks Rick and everyone else - very awesome what you are all doing here as well as the help.

you would be best asking in the correct forum. Try the Version 7 Installation Assistance if your running 7x or Importer Assistance if your an 6x to 7x upgrade stating which version your running

I'm discussing 7.3. which this topic is for or am I really not in the correct forum for that? I'm not interested in 7.x installation assistance at this time.
I thought it was obvious in my post we had already upgraded to 7.2.2. I apologize if it was confusing.
I am looking forward to 7.3 but need answers to details that worry me about upgrading and also a feature I need in the forums. Any help is appreciated.

7.2.2 -->> 7.3 1. When we upgrade to 7.3 will our forum page URLs stay the same? Yes and no? The links will change to include a subject, but i'm lead to belive that they will work fine as the new URL's also include the #post number 2. Will the things we changed after we upgraded to 7.2.2 like headers, language files, templates and styles stay the same? Yes all will stay the same, The Updater is a pretty neat tool that will modify where it needs to. (Language files). How ever you will need to check any style sheets, but the upgrade script does have an updater. So it will correct the 7.2.2 style sheet into a 7.3 That only happens at the upgrade point. So any 7.2 sheets imported after the upgrade will need attention (not much attention) 3. That sounds like a hack to be honnest. Check over at ubbdev Hope that helps

Mark pretty much answered everything. The links do change a bit, however the old links will still continue to work.
On a side note, for those wondering when 7.3 will be final. We should be able to finish things up by next week so sometime during the week of the 21st is where we are shooting for.
