This is driving me crazy(er). I want to change the favicon.ico file to one that I made. Currently, the favicon file is the UBBCentral favicon - looks like a little star burst with a "U" in the center. My problem is, when I delete the favicon.ico image from .../images/general/default/favicon.ico and then FTP my new image to replace it, the image reverts to the original UBBCentral image...no matter what I do! Can any one provide any insight into this? I want my own site favicon.ico file to appear when people view my site or add my URL to their favorites, but I'll be darned if I can figure out who to get MY favicon.ico file to replace the existing file...it acts like it is being replace, but when I view the file it is still the original. HELP!

Are you looking at a cache at all?
Can't see why having replaced this, why it wouldn't show.

It must be a cache issue...but even when I use my FTP program it still shows the old image when I over-right it with the new one. Very strange.

Delete the default .ico Refresh your page a few times. then upload your new one Sometime overwriting isnt enough I think this appears in 2 places one for the forums and one for the control panel from memory.
BOOM !! Version v7.6.1.1 People who inspire me Isaac ME Gizmo

Should overwrite both: forums/images/general/default/favicon.ico And: forums/images/general/default_dark/favicon.ico OR, as I recommend, take and make a new directory, copy the imageset you use into it, then modify images there; so when you upgrade in the future you don't have to worry about overwriting your images

Hi,
Just recently upgraded from 7.1.1 to 7.2.2 (don't think I'll wait til 7.3.3 for the next one)....anywho, we had a custom icon in our public_html directory with that name that would show in the favorites/bookmark area as well as in the address link and tab in Firefox. Now, when I view my site it's showing the "standard" ubbthreads cogwheel icon. Did you change where you're pulling that image from in the code?
Aha, nm, found it, yes, you've now got it pulling from the images/general (and may have before, but with the upgrade, I probably overwrote it when I'd copied it in there)
I'll leave this post here in case any other custom favicon builders are scratching their heads.

Merged topics Don't forget to upload both the default and the dark versions, depending upon your stylesheet.

Turns out mine was a cahce problem as suggested. I cleared my browser cache and now it shows the new icon. However, my FTP program WS_PRO still shows the original when I llok in that directory with thumbnail view. I'm sure its also a cache issue. Thnkas for the assist.

Also, if you have added in other stylesheets, you should put it in all those other directories that get added into the general directory
