Was this the only user to report this? If you are on a hosted server it's possible that the mysql server was restarted or temporarily unavailable, as that is what the error message is stating "Lost connection to MySQL server"

I just got an eamil from my server I thought you might want to hear about...

Aparently there is a conflict between php4 and mysql.

Found it!

Or at least I think I did. It's not a MySQL problem at all. It's a PHP
problem. There is an incompatibility between PHP and the new MySQL. The
good news is that I think we can fix it. The bad news is that it isn't a
trivially easy fix, and will take a while.

We'll keep you posted.

They're going to try recompiling php see if that won't take care of the problem, but I thought you might want to check into it a bit as it affects w3t - php.
