Still finalizing the subscription docs Mark. Didn't want to delay the release any longer, but I'll have them shortly.

Question on updating from V7.2
Copy only the common.css file from styles directory nothing else in that directory
For the cache_builders directory copy all files EXCEPT the custom subdirectoy ?
Right ?
Does this all be copied to existing functional forum directory or have to be some temp install directory on forum server ?
Thanks

Pretty much, follow the standard upgrade guide, only copy over the common.css file.

Thanks but not clear if files are copied/ overwritten to existing functional directory or make a temp install directory and run upgrade.php from there and it finds the functional directory ?

As the files are new, and are imperative to be installed; it'd be to your live forum and not a temporary location (as the upgrade guides would state)

OK got it, upgrade completed.
They should add to the upgrade document to overwrite all files to existing functional directory instead of stating to copy to a install directory so it is clearer on the upgrade process

admin/rebuildcontent.php - second tab, although not sure why it is linked to the content rebuilder.

It should be in your styles directory. I just double checked the zip to make sure I included it, and it definitely should be in there.

Yes I can see how I misinterpreted this line Copy only the common.css file from styles directory nothing else in that directory I thought it meant upgrading from 7.2 - but now I see that it doesn't...

7.3 Change: Several more style classes have been added for even more customization. 7.3 Change: The Style editor/preview screen has had a variety of updates to show all of the new available classes and also will preview special wrappers properly now. Just to clarify, does this mean we can update our current custom styles automatically, without it touching current settings, and without using WinMerge or something?

Your current styles should be pushed into the upgrade just fine; however you'll likely have to go into the style editor and make sure none of the options are blank (they're new if they are).

I do an update from 7.2.2 After installing 7.3 my styles dont work. I have go to the admin panel, enter the style, say save (without touching anything) and the style work again. Then you have to go to the style again and modify the new settings as you like. It work without this, but looks better.

Very cool that this is now completed, Rick! Congratulations to you and all the Beta testers!
Before I upgrade my community, I'd like to create a test board--just to practice the install, etc., since it's been a long, long time since I've played with any of this.
I have a stupid question regarding that: this test board would not in any way impact my current board, correct? In other words, at this time, I would not have to back-up my live board.

no, as long as you use a different database.
However I would always recommend having a regular backup of both your site and it's database.

Has anyone come up with a nice friendly-looking list and explanation of new things for users in 7.3 for their forums?
(Like the changelog, but a bit more expansive)
Thanks

Rick, you and all the Beta testers did a bang up job. I've been watching all the comments and I can't wait to upgrade to 7.3. There's some great stuff in it.

I did a upgrade on my test server to see how it would go and all that before trying in my public site. I do this so my mods and admins can learn the new stuff before we toss them to the dogs, lol.
When I got into the CP and seen all the new stuff I was completely blown away by all the changes and additions. Great work.

I have made several changes to the UBB tags that were suggested by Giz on this forum, especially the embedded video stuff (youtube, break, etc). Is the place where I need to make the PHP code changes in the same place?

no - you wan't need to do any php at all.. you are essentially just doing matching regex and resulting markup in the admin cpanel now.. it's then doing what your php code was doing in the past on the fly.. no need to code... except of course, you'd need to know the regex'es, which is a form of coding

That's cool. The PHP substitution code was already expressed as a regex, so I can just crib that. Thanks.

However, does somebody (Gizmo) have a nice list of the UBB substitutions that they are using that they can share? I haven't done the upgrade yet, but I would like to have those substitutions ready to import immediately, since my users are really into these embedded tags.

Not sure what was going on that day On a related note, anyone else having issues with firefox 2.x and submitting forms in .threads 7.3? What about getting the content of the right hand pane in the admin panel? :help:
