You can read the change log HERE
For you since you already edited the few scripts missing the extra hidden post value I don't see much of a benefit.
Unless you still have some issues that matchup against the very few bug fixes in 7.4.1.
The way the install/upgrade works today you really should run the install script to upgrade. You can't just ftp the changed files anymore unless you want to edit some more files to get them working.
Besides there are a lot of feature changes from what you were used to in Classic. It will take a while to digest it all.

you mean you can't ftp upload a changed file from 7.4.1 into 7.4?

It all depends on the changes made.
Did it modify the MySQL Tables.
Did it impact new settings in the array.

If you start Ftping files without following the documentation which usually states to upload pretty much everything. You run the risk of having a file out of sync with the new version. So always follow the installation/upgrade guidelines. If Rick states to just ftp files 1,2 and 3 to upgrade 7.4 to 7.4.1 then that is fine. But I think we will see that once 7.4.1 is in the members area it will follow the standard upgrade which means running the install script.

It would be like upgrading from classic to threads but should be a lot easier and cleaner since you already are using threads.

Best bet is to use something like Beyond Compare merging any changes you had previously made then ftp all files (except those that should not be uploaded) then run the upgrade script.

Its really not that bad. In fact the install script keeps getting better all the time. I upgraded from 7.1 to 7.2 I had some issues but it was caused by my hosts windows server.
When I tested upgrading to 7.4 it was better yet.

Again when you decide to upgrade follow the documentation.

My upgrade from 7.4 to 7.4.1 was painless. No glitches. Longest part was uploading the files.

Thanks, Rick!

I upgraded 7.4 to 7.4.1 no problems.
Upgraded 7.2.2 to 7.4.1 had one display hitch on the upgrade script on the upgrade but that was it.

Can I just upload the changed files or is there a database modification also?

I upgraded 7.4 to 7.4.1 no problems apart from the Global moderator being changed back to moderator and name colour change back from blue to green.

The other thing was that I had to clear the cache to get the global moderator back to blue for the Top Posters island.

Still having problems with the Featured member Island causing a lock up of both Recent Topics & Topic replies if the days are changed from '0' to 120 days.

Still having issues with getting a Gallery Island on my portal, as well as the forums top posters.

"It appears that you have reached an update page without submitting any data."

I did the entire upgrade, still no luck frown

Must all the files in "templates/default" read, write, execute and delete permissions or just the directory itself?

Sounds like you have installed 7.4 not 7.4.1. There were a few scripts in 7.4 missing a value in the form.
Which version do you have?

Did you run the install script from the install folder after uploading the new version?
Did You have any errors during the install process?

First this topic should be moved from here to "Version 7 Installation Assistance".
But anyway my upgrade from 7.4 to 7.4.1 took me through many steps confirming files permissions etc. sounds like something was missed.
What is the URL to the forum in question?

Rick,
This sub topic can be deleted. Wordz has reposted his problem in another forum

Can someone outline the changes from 7.2.2 to 7.4.1? Our IT Manager would like to prioritize the upgrade and we need to know what features and bugs have been addresses to evaluate the urgency of the transition.

Ive now upgraded from 7.2.2 - 7.4.1

All went well very impressed but a glitch with my language files.
I can sort that i guess.

I notice now my

Generated in 0.724 seconds in which 0.679 seconds were spent on a total of 26 queries. Zlib compression enabled.

And sometimes 1.5

This is Twice as slow as 7.2.2 i never hit the 1.00 ??

Good Upgrade there Rick.
I was more worried than i needed to be.

In the UBB Threads Installation FAQ the entry regarding MYSQL has a link to get more information. This link is broken.
