I am still receiving the same error messages when trying to add a Gallery Island...

"It appears that you have reached an update page without submitting any data."

I uploaded all of the files (except for this specifically mention not to), and then went to the /install/upgrade.php link and it says...

"This upgrade has been completed. Please remove the entire install directory"

What did I miss?

What is the URL to the forum in question?
At the very bottom what is the version reported?

I am guessing here but could it be when you uploaded the files you used the exact same version as 7.4 instead of 7.4.1.
I assume you have member access still.
If you ftp to the site all the files will have the version somewhere in the comment section at the top. It will have 7.4.1 regardless of if the file was changed or not.
I would go back to the member area download the current file 7.4.1 unzip it and redo the upgrade. Re-run install and like I said it should walk you through several steps. File compare,permissions,ETC and record any error/correction notices you may get. The upgrade documentation is Here Follow it exactly and write down anything that is different.

Oh and put the URL to the forum in your profile

Looks like you closed the board and started another update. The footer now shows 7.4.1

I see a image in the gallery island and the top posters island now appears. And the footer shows that 7.4.1 is installed. So I guess the issue is resolved now.
Hard to tell since registrations are turned off.

I redid everything, and it worked. Thanks for the help and advice. I guess I reuploaded the 7.4 files. I don't know...Registration is turned off until Nov 16th. We use to have vB boards, we decided to go with UBB now.

I have another issue though...when trying to make a post island, i get this issue...

I get this error..."Parse error: parse error, unexpected '<' in /forums/cache_builders/custom/portal_box_1.php on line 5...whats this?

Looks like that file has some bad code in it. You can edit that via the control panel under the custom islands section. If you post what is in it here, we can help straighten that out.

Pick one problem Island and do what Rick requested.
Copy and paste the whole Island code and paste it here.
I am talking what is entered in the control panel. Not the File.
Just open say Island 1 copy what is there and post it here, Not the file.

/* PHP CODE HERE */

/* BODY HERE */
$body = <<<EOF
EOF;

Do not delete the EOF stuff
Place yor HTML after <<<EOF and before EOF;

BTW,
It looks like you are editing a Custom Island not a Post Island
