I'd like to change the "Welcome" PM that shows up in a new users mailbox when they first register. I recently upgraded from UBB 5.44b to UBB.Threads 7.4.2 (using path to upgrade through UBB.Classic).

Everything translated over just fine, including the users designated as Administrators. There is a "Welcome" PM that is automatically sent when a user registers on the board. This was developed by the 1st Administrator in 1999 who is no longer associated with the board and appears to users it was sent from that account. I'd like to:
1. Change who the "Welcome" PM is sent from
2. Customize the content of the "Welcome" PM

I've looked all over the control panel and don't see where this can be done. Any pointers?

For the private message it is in the language files.
» Control Panel » Languages » Language Editor
Search for WEL_MSG.
To change who it is sent from:
It uses the master admin of the forum not sure what file to edit but it would be a mod

Ok - Found the WEL_MSG to edit as part of adduser.php

Now if I can just figure out how to change what Administrator to send it from....

Control Panel » Primary Settings » Advanced Options

look for: Main Administrator User Id

That should be the board owners ID number and who is sending the welcome message PM.

This will change the Master admin for the board so all messages of any type will come from what member number you change it to.

For just the welcome PM only.
Quick down and dirty going from memory and not tested.
Edit adduser.inc.php
Quote
change ($config [main_admin_id])
to
member number of your choice

I beleive there are two lines to change.

Remember this is considered a modification and is not supported here.

Found it. Thanks - the language edit and changing Administrator ID in the control panel gave me just what I needed.

J/30 Class Association Forum

I changed the ID for all messages via the CP which is what was needed.
