Here's exactly what I did to make this happen...on the "Forum Settings" page, I had a forum setup specifically for "unregistered users" in the classifieds section of our forum, so when they scrolled down to the classififeds area, all they saw was the "unregistered users read this" message that was invisible to anyone who was logged in...well, I simply "enabled" that forum and wham-o, down she went, like a bag of hammers...

I'm guessing it's something with the 'forummanage.php' page specifically...that's where all the forum settins are normally listed, it's now blank...I can access the actual individual forum settings pages via the history on my computer, so I know they're all there, just not showing up on the 'forummanage.php' page for some reason?

Any ideas how to fix this?

Hmm, first thing I'd take a look at the w3t_Forums table and make sure everything looks ok in there. If the Forum Settings page is coming up blank then it sounds like maybe something could be wonky with the table data.

We ended up uploading the backup copy...but, it's done this exact same thing before, but have been unable to find the problem. All is fine until I hit "submit changes" and then BANG, it's all gone from the forum settings page, but the forums are still there...?

What you probably need to do is take a look at the w3t_Forums table before and after the submit, and see what's different. Hard to say since it's an old version, but definitely not something I've seen before so can't give an easy fix other than the suggested for starters.

Crapola...it's done it again. Here's *exactly* what I did...

Went into the control panel, to the forum settings page, unchecked a single "enabled" box next to a single forum, and "Whammo", when the forum settings box refreshes it says you have no forums. If you go to the past 24 hours link all the posts/threads are still there, as are the forums, but they won't show up on the main page.

Oh, and this *might* be a sub-forum, enabled from an old Sub-forums hack...

Any ideas, other than the w3t_Forums suggestion above? Please??

I never used ver6. When I visit your site I also see the hop to lists is empty.
Digging a little more using active topics I see the forums but thats it. Only the current forum the post is in.

You said you fixed it the last time with a backup.
Are you talking about the forum files or the MySql tables or both.
Maybe the mod you think you have is the problem?
I know I had a similar problem with ver7x due to what is called safemode in php. Once it was disabled the problem went away.
My problem was the styles, everytime I edited them it corrupted the table.

If the forum files are getting corrupted.Probably a host issue going over quota on disk space?

Maybe it is time to consider upgrading to ver 7.5. It will be out in a week or two. And it has sub forums built in.

What do you mean by "hop to list"...?

I'd guess that somehow your categories and forums might be getting out of sync. I'm not even sure of the fields anymore, but take a look at your w3t_Forums table. There should be a field or two related to the category. Although if you have the subforum hack, it could be something with that as well.

Well in your version it is called Jump to:
If you are viewing a post at the very bottom to the right is supposed to be a menu drop down list of all the forums and categories. That you can select to jump to a different area or forum.
It is empty/blank.

I don't show a w3t_Forums table...I've got a _Boards and a _Category...I'm assuming _Boards equals _Forums????

This is driving me nuts...!

w3t_Boards is the one you'll want to look at.

Anything specific we can look for? Or is it gonna be like pornography: we'll know it when we see it!

Restored the boards table, and that fixed it...now to find the problem...!
