Hi, and thanks for all the help you guys have given me so far. It's invaluable, plus I'm learning a lot too. smile

Anyway .. on the Calendar > Add New Event page, the "Type" default is Private. Is there any way I can change this to Public? I have had a look through the applicable scripts, but I can't find anywhere to change it.

Thanks. smile

"public" is only shown when you have the ability to post to the calendar (set in the control panel). "Private" will always show, for items availalbe for only you to see.

Thanks Gizmo, but I was looking for how to change the default, so that Public is the first one to be displayed in the dropdown list. I allow all my users to create events.

However .. I've just found how to do it. In the addevent.inc.php script, I just swapped the values around. smile

Thanks for replying though!

The option itself is group based, in the calendar settings in the control panel you can select which groups you want to allow to post to the calendar; it shouldn't take a script edit to do so...

I can't find this in the control panel. I have all registered users able to make a calendar entry. How do I make the default "public" instead of "private" without editing ubbthreads/scripts/addevent.inc.php to swap the two?

I think Gizmo missed the actual question.
Private calendars are by default always available.
Public calendars permissions to post are set in the groups permissions.
Currently to swap the default calendar you would need to edit the file template just like Rose did.

I did the same thing.
My opinion is public should be the default if the permissions allow that group to post to the public calendar.
