You told us almost three years ago and then a few months ago we could expect blogs shortly? I've told a number of folks we would be adding that feature shortly. I have egg on my face. What's happening Rick and can we get an estimated date when it will be available? I am very pleased with the UBB forums. The upgrades over the past 10 years have been very helpful. We have a large online comminity at Minnesota-Wisconsin Fishing Reports & Resorts. Enjoy the forums UBB has made possible!!!!

This ended up getting tossed back and forth, debated, and more. What it finally boiled down to is we're going to be working on 8.0 next which will update the UI among other things and blogs will be added at the same time.
Speaking of blogs, I'm actually trying to actively use mine so I can get an idea of what I like about them, what features we need to bring over, etc. A common mistake I've made in the past is when we add a new big feature, I've never really personally used it (such as photo gallery software) so I didn't really get a good idea on what features we really needed to have.
So they are coming for sure, has taken much longer than I would have liked, but they will be in 8.0 as a definite feature.

You could always just ask what we would like to see in a blog I'm sure people who use them could give you some pointers too

Thanks Rick. The sooner the better. Do you have a goal for a ballpark completion date of 8.0

Version 7.5.1 is currently being worked on. Assuming there are no major bugs after 7.5.1 is released, Rick will start working on 8.0.

Rick, if you're looking on suggestions for extending the gallery, go checkout Menalto's Gallery software; can't be beat

It's definitely not going to take as long as many of you think I think the nightmare of the 7.0 development is haunting you guys. It seemed like 7.0 was in development for a couple years. But everything that was done/not done during the first major chunk of that was actually scrapped. We started development on 7.0 from scratch in late February of '06, and we had our release in Oct '06. So that was 8 months of development time and that was a complete rewrite of everything, including the database, every bit of code in the front end scripts, all the templates and 90% of the backend. While the 8.0 changes will be pretty big, they aren't as sweeping as what we did with 7.0. There's no way I'm throwing out any sort of hard date yet, but I'm thinking we'll be in some type of beta by summer.
