Rick, Question on your comment. Since this is a pay per license software, why is there not some validation for the license presently during a install or upgrade. The only protection is member access. But I could give out the zip file to every person I wanted to. I could just buy a gold license and then sell the zip for $10.00 a pop. Seems like this would protect piracy on your end anyway.

Authorization would result in a "callback" to a license server, which would arise privacy issues... people would cry ...

Try to reinstall windows on your box and see what happens if you don't have that 26 character string on the sticker. You will be buying a new software package.

We might be spoiled dealing with this site but in the real world. "No ticky no washy" as far as every other pay license is concerned.

Authorization would result in a "callback" to a license server, which would arise privacy issues... people would cry ... We'd also need to do some sort of code encryption since without it, if someone really wanted to run a pirated license, they'd just remove the callback. That's not really a road I've ever wanted to go down.

As I recall, cant find it as the search function is BROKE again, that Rick said that his beta testing staff has dropped off recently and these latest releases have not been tested as much as the previous versions. He also stated that he was thinking of recruiting new beta testers.
I believe you have posted in on this conversation as well Gizmo as you replied to one or two of my posts in that thread. Well I am not going to beat up on any beta testers. I think the first thing people forget is they are all volunteers meaning they all work for free. They may check out very thoroughly what they think is pertinent to the changes so they may overlook some items. What I don't agree to is if a person want's to be a beta tester then they should also at least send a message to Rick that they don't have time to be one anymore. Or at least they don't have time to test the current beta release.

For some software that I have used in the past, my websites checks and validated everytime with the mothership... Mothership was down for a few weeks so were all of our sites then.. that was www.webscribble.comor one similar to that... We sure do not want to go that way either..

Fluff, eh? I hear you can do that for a living in certain movie industries... Ruben might have some contacts... he did inquire about your tongue... /me thinks 7.5.2 should have been called 7.5.1.1. Brevity is for wusses.

I see the search is working again. Why has it been breaking with every upgrade since 7.4?

I believe you have posted in on this conversation as well Gizmo as you replied to one or two of my posts in that thread. Ummm, I didn't think I was beating up on the beta testers for one, I did however TRY to point out that "Rick" himself had stated that the beta testing program has become laxed causing more bugs not to be found before the product was released to the general public. I personally think you should have quoted Rick as he "beat up" on his own beta testing program if your looking at it in that manner. Well I am not going to beat up on any beta testers. I think the first thing people forget is they are all volunteers meaning they all work for free. They may check out very thoroughly what they think is pertinent to the changes so they may overlook some items. Tells that there are no results to display.
how I have been fixing it was just re-uploading the search file a few times and then it starts working again for some reason. This happens in my site and here that it is breaking.
I can't explain it really. I'm sure it is happening for many other users too.

To Jaisp, I was only quoting your post to reference beta testers since this topic has a little drift off topic. But you are correct Rick is the one that stated about low participation from the beta test group and new blood may need to be solicited for version 8.

I'd be willing to jump into the fray, but will have to wait and see what happens I guess. I've been an alpha tester with a company and have really enjoyed finding issues and working for a resolution.

Harold, I never said I would be helping anyone else if I was to enter the beta test here, however unlikely that is.

Curious mark, which bugs in 7.5.2 are holding you back? I don't really see any that'd be show stoppers for an upgrade at this point (unlike 7.5 and 7.5.1)

We're probably going to wait a bit longer on this. Every time we put out a release it seems a couple of bugs are picked up shortly thereafter, so will give this a bit longer to see if anything else needs addressed.
