Sending mass emails only gets people upset and creates a lot of work answering complains

Why can we not send the messages by PM?

Ideally those message should self destruct (get deleted) after a week or so

I lost a hosting account once after using the mass email feature and someone complained about Spam. The risks of mass email are too high

On the board I could send people all the private messages I want without any worries

My personal opinion mass emails is becoming a spam issue not with just the recipient but the sender as well.
Maybe the PM is the way to go?

I would also love to have this feature! I have a huge board with many Moderators (over 60) and it would be nice to be able to send them a mass PM. Many of them check our site before their own emails. There's always some that get missed via email or it ends up in their spam folders.

I'm using another solution along with UBB7 and with that one I can setup buddy list, ie; all my moderators, and then send a PT (private topic/same as a pm) to all of them at one time and it's like a regular post where as my "buddies" reply, everyone else can see the reply's and make their own comments based on what everyone else is saying.

Yep that can be done now with 7.x but you have to do some upfront setup. Like adding everyone to your buddy list. You could do a select all then unselect whom you don't wish to send to.
But if another option was added like groups as a filter. That would be a good thing.

Another issue with Private Messages and email limits is if a lot of users opt for email notification you still have the problem with undelivered mail if your host uses a throttling method. So we would still need an enhancement to the email delivery process.
To accommodate the restrictions today from hosts that limit email by the minute/hour and day.
