One of my PC's just got Internet Explorer 8 and I was in my forums and noticed that the text formatting in all of the topic lists and posts was not what I had set it to in the style. The font was correct in other places on the page however. Anyone come across this yet?

IE 8 is rather fickle. You can try to force IE-7 compatibility mode. In our latest version we have that turned on by default. In your version, you'd need to actually add it. The post below has the line that needs to be added and where it needs to go.

Most excellent! I read through that topic and then fixed the issue nicely. I also fixed one of my other websites that was having a background alignment issue.

So placing:

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7" />

above all other meta tags in a web page header will force IE8 to load the page in compatibility mode. Sweet. But eventually Microsoft will either need to tweek their browser or a lot of websites will need to be redone. For now this works for me.

If you look forever in the microsoft technical area you will find the same method to correct this issue.
So hats off to Rick for finding it for us.
