TEST?
I'd would like to test out a newer version of threads (7.4 or 7.5) before advising my 'boss' to purhcase. Please advise me as to how best to go about this. Or show me where i get started. (i understand that there is a free 30 day test)
Possible Problem?
Much of the reason why we are updating is due to the 6,000+ spammers, bots and spiders clogging up our registration que.
Ideally i'd like to delete all that mess before updating. But i've learned that there is not quick easy way of doing this in UBB 6.2.0 (our current version).
If my 'boss' were going to pay the $149 to have UBB install the update would this clogged que be a problem? Would they charge us extra to clean it out? (or is this more a question for the UBB sales team?)
Thanks again, this forum has been a great help.

You can request a demo at: https://www.ubbcentral.com/demo.phpWhich will run on the server here for a couple of days. What you say is your clogged Que. That is a subjective question. If you wish to delete all of them without question I would think it is a simple matter to delete all. Rick will need to respond on this item if that is included on the install price. But if you think some are keepers there would be nobody but you to make that determination. I am not sure what happens to users in the Que after upgrading since I pruned my members before upgrading. But I would assume un-approved registrations would retain their status and could be mass deleted after the upgrade.

They stay as they were before the upgrade had begun till changed by the board administrator.

I still am not clear on why Tacks can't mass delete on the current version he is using.

Again, thanks much to both of you for responding. Great help. I still am not clear on why Tacks can't mass delete on the current version he is using. I believe that this is an issue which we already covered. In another thread we talked a mass delete of the 6,000+ spammers from 7 months ago. After searching, I could not find the specific menu commands which i was told to look for. I then concluded that UBB 6.2.0 does NOT have this option. And that i would have to delete them one by one.

That sucks. I thought your version had the ability to mass delete. But you still have the option to manually delete them by editing the member files if you dare! I believe Allen responded on that item.

Just thought I'd chime in; wasn't 6.2 from like 2000 (or earlier)?

I really don't remember but I do know in 1999 it was the 5.x series. Because that is when I started here. It would be nice to have a wiki on version dates prior to threads. Just for nit noid issues like this.

I think the oldest classic I have is UBB v543
I also have the demo classic without all the functions and limiting you to 9 forums, the free one. Remember that one?
