My host received a complaint from someone whose firewall notified them that my IP tried to access their computer. Could this be the Multiple Account Notification feature at work? Does this work using cookies or something else?

No, UBB.threads doesn't do anything on the user's computer except for setting cookies. Nothing that would directly access their computer from your IP.

Does this work using cookies or something else? I think if they alerted your host vs alerting you they're trying to stir trouble... Why you'd go through the trouble of looking up someones host contacts vs contacting the site in question is beyond me...

I think the host was contacted because a whois at Arin just shows my IP within the host's range.
I am thinking that someone just got a new firewall and thinks all of the reports are really intrusion attempts. (I tried Zone Alarm once and gave it up because of all the attempted intrusion reports). Unfortunately my host suspends sites at the drop of a hat...

Unfortunately as software gets more advanced the security departments lack the desire to actually investigate and or keep up with the new software coming out by these so called security software companies.
Pretty much these collage kids they have working for these ISP's are getting dumber. Now maybe a year after suspending several accounts they may find out they were wrong and go, "Oh Gee, if we just had learned this when it came out we would look like a bunch of *****!!!"

did they provide any logs or other information to back up their claim?

did they provide any logs or other information to back up their claim? Not that I have seen. When I received the notice from the host to clean up the problem or they would shut me down in 24 hours (just a couple of hours left now...) I fired off 3 successive emails to them requesting more info and got no reply. I have not been able to reach them by phone - fast busy signal.

Yep - they suspended my account overnight as they apparently did not receive my responses to the complaint. It looks like they blocked my email address - sheesh!
I am back up now. There is one good thing about this host which keeps me here and that is the amount of actual resources that come with my VPS. My site is fairly high-traffic and easily overloads at other hosts...
