Hi, our forum software has so far been running as version 7.5.3 and I have now directly upgraded to version 7.5.4.1. But I did not upload any additional files, only the /install directory and the file /libs/ubbthreads.inc.php. After having done that I kicked off the upgrade process. during that I was not asked to upload modified files, the updated did run all smooth. After the upgrade process the board is reporting version 7.5.4.1. but on the server there are still the "old" version files. In the file /install/UPGRADE_CHANGES.txt. is noted a change at various files in version 7.5.4 - I just want to check with you if this is as it should be ... Mtier

Here is what is from the documentation: Upload all files and directories from the unzipped UBB.threads™ directory to the UBB.threads™ installation directory, except for the includes, styles, and cache_builders/custom directories. You will want to upload all of the .php files within the cache_builders directory, just make sure not to upload the custom directory or files within it. Then you would run the upgrade.php file. At this point since there were not any alter tables. You probably may get away with just uploading the files. It may seem okay now but the next upgrade may be a issue since the version number is in just about every file.

I'd like to note that where that is a valid upgrade procedure (as others have noted over the v7 coarse) it isn't a route I'd ever go (even as someone who generally heavily modifies their coding version after version) when upgrading any of my forum installs...

I was saying that it is a noted install option based on what others have had success with, but i'd never personally use that route to upgrade...

Well, the method he chose was to upload the /libs/ubbthreads.inc.php and the install directory; it's SUPPOSED to tell you what files are required to update from the version you're at vs the version you're upgrading to... Personally, it's not a route that I like and you can end up with problems. The route I like is this.
