Some sites have needed to actually go into the cache folder via ftp and delete all files except for the index.htm index.html files. To force a complete rebuild of the cache files.

Well the cache builders folder will build cache files in the cache folder. Typically it is all of the islands. Same file names pretty much. If it is empty then try the clear cache option again in the control panel and see if you have any files in there.
Your other islands show data so there must be something there. The default path would be forums/cache.

BTW like I said you should have at least the blank files. index.html and index.htm. If they are missing also, I would suspect something has happened with your host provider service. Those two files should always be there.

Definitely sounds like some deeper issue going on especially if noone can login or the ones that are logged in cannot logout. I'd also look at the sessions directory and make sure it's ok.
If you want to open up a support ticket I'll take a closer look.

adpeeps doesn't need to be integrated, so i don't know why they'd mess with your /forum directory...
just paste the adpeeps code in your island and voila...

Thanks in advance... Tom

I think it was just the index.php page, but I was afraid to do anything else...
Can I just copy the single file from my computer and place it on the ftp site?
Then do I have to run a renuilder or anything?

I am giving my IT guys the link to here and my user name and password so that maybe they may be able to better understand some of this and get the site back up and working.
Thanks for all your help guys...
And also, any additonal help on how to get addpeeps into the header area of my site would be greatly appreciated as well...

If addpeeps is like other ad software, then it should just be a matter of adding the code in the proper section. If you want it at the top of your forum then you'd put it into the Header Section under the Display Options -> General -> HTML Includes tab.
If you want it on the side in an island, then you'd just create a custom island and put it in there.
It shouldn't require modifying the code at all.

What version are you running? I know Rick had to make a fix for the cache updater in 7.5.4.2. Not saying this is the issue.. I just know that it fixed several issues with the calendar and top posters caches. (they weren't rebuilding properly in 7.5.4.1 (I think)

the code for that should go in a custom portal, which you can then add wherever you want, you shouldn't have to mess with any of the UBB code to install it.

If you want it in your header, then you just need to get the HTML code that addpeeps generates for you. Then you can go into Display Options -> General -> HTML Includes tab and put that code into the "Default Header" section.
From what I've read on it, that should really be all you need to do once it gives you the HTML.

<!-- START 468x60 AdPeeps.com Code --> <p align="center"> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.campingpa.com/adpeeps/adpeeps.php?bfunction=showad&uid=100000&bmode=off&gpos=center&bzone=main_header_ad&bsize=468x60&btype=3&bpos=default&ver=2.0&btotal=1&btarget=_blank&bborder=0&gspacing=1"> </script> <noscript> <a href="http://www.campingpa.com/adpeeps/adpeeps.php?bfunction=clickad&uid=100000&bmode=off&bzone=main_header_ad&bsize=468x60&btype=1&bpos=default&ver=2.0" target="_blank"> <img src="http://www.campingpa.com/adpeeps/adpeeps.php?bfunction=showad&uid=100000&bmode=off&bzone=main_header_ad&bsize=468x60&btype=1&bpos=default&ver=2.0" width="468" height="60" alt="Click Here!" title="Click Here!" border="0" /></a> </noscript> </p> <!-- END AdPeeps.com Code -->
It says this when I try it that way...
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in c:\domains\campingpa.com\wwwroot\forums\cache_builders\custom\portal_box_2.php on line 2
Any thing look wrong?

BTW like I said you should have at least the blank files. index.html and index.htm. If they are missing also, I would suspect something has happened with your host provider service. Those two files should always be there. My Shout Box content disappeared too. The box was there, the buttons were there, even the type-in-your-comment field was there but all the previously posted "Shouts" were gone and new shouts can't be send. When you type in and SEND something it says, "Sending message..." but never appears. I first tried to "Clear Cache" and that didn't help. Via FTP, I removed all the files (except for index.html) files in the /forum/cache/ folder, as well as all the files in the /forum/cache_builders/ folder, and also all the files (except for index.html) in the /forum/cache_builders/custom/ folder. Then I did a 1) Rebuild posts, 2) Rebuild topics, and 3) Rebuild forums... and now I'm without any Islands, no shout box, nothing on the right or left side bars. http://www.madridman.com/forum/I did, however, save all those files I deleted. Should I just send them back to where I found them and see what happens or try something different?

Sounds like something changed on your host. Uploading your old cache files will only upload static info.
Also deleting the /forum/cache_builders/ and custom folder was a boo boo. You should have only deleted in the /forum/cache folder.
You need to restore them. They create the files in the cache folder. Without them they will never get rebuilt. After you put them back in: rebuild cache from the control panel Then: I would start with looking at the cache folder to see if the files were rebuilt. Also I would check that file permissions are correct for same as well as cache builders and all the other folders. Maybe the host updated your site and something is hosed now.

In the "Tools & Info" category I do see "Clear Cache" and "Content rebuilder", but neither of them contains a "Rebuild cache" option. I'm using UBB.threadsâ„¢ 7.4.1.

yep, wrong term try clear cache. Then look at the cache folder to see if all the files got rebuilt. There should be one for each feature you enabled.

All files rebuilt after "Clear Cache", all islands are back including the shout box but still not working-no contents. /forum/cache/ file permission is 777. /forum/cache_builders is 755. All other /forum/ folders are either 777 or 755. Even /cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ is at 755. Other ideas? Thanks a lot for your help, by the way.

Okay I took a peek and I see some improvements. But as a guest testing the shoutbox I get a message that states: "You do not have permission to use shoutbox" It does not look like a standard message from ubb because it is a popup dialog.
Might want to start with checking user settings for access: Control Panel » Site Permissions Can use the shoutbox Can see the shoutbox
