Ok, it seems like basically everyone loves to use the word 'basically' when basically describing something basic. Basically, this post is to get a basic following to ban the use of 'basically'. So, I basically decided it was time to rid us of this over worked word when basically starting a sentence to basically describe something or some action.

I basically decided on doing this after hearing it basically used too much on Dirty Jobs and other programs.

So, if you're basically in agreement, please respond in the affirmative and we can basically get rid of this word.

I know I am guilty of basically using the word basically far too often. So I'm basically in agreement, although I know I'm basically destined to fail in not using it.

My local radio station LBC (London) has a presenter who used to ban everyone who said the word....

Unfortunately, there were so many people getting banned that it was affecting the show, so he reduced it to a warning klaxon before a ban.

Even then, there were so many people saying it, that it was ineffective - now he only does it occasionally for fun...

Basically, it's a hard one to stop.......
