I installed the demo version and then tried to upgrade to the full version. When I go to the altertables I get a ton of SQL errors. Furthermore I am not able to view anything in the admin section - I get a "document is empty" ...


I've reinstalled the demo versionseveral times - following the directions EXPLICITLY.

What version of the demo do you have? If it is earlier than 6.2 then you can't actually upgrade that one to 6.2. The best thing would be to do a normal install of the full 6.2 version. This is a much easier process then installing the demo and then running altertables as you basically follow the same steps as you did when you setup the demo.

Argh! When the demo-->6.2 didn't work the first three times I deleted the entire directory and still had demo coming up in places. I deleted it again and started with the full version FRESH and now I'm getting T-string expected errors.

This "simple" procedure is really eating away at my time!d

Are you sure you uploaded all the new files. I don't know how it could see anything as the "demo" unless some files didn't get overwritten with the full version.

How specifically is it coming up as the demo?

Thanks Josh - but I've moved on from that ERROR to other - more interesting ones .... now when I try to update the config file I get a parse error in doeditconfig line 576

help! I'm pulling my hair out at this point!-

What's on that line of the config.inc.php file?

its the end of the file.
I've the same problem with updating themes - line 215 the end of the file ... deleting it doesn't seem to help.

Have you uploaded these files in ASCII mode? If not, they might get some wacky characters in them which will "break" them for sure.

I've done that and that caused (or so it seems) my admin option to disappear entirely!
