I assume you went from version 7.5.2 to version 7.5.5?
Has to be some kind of coincidence.
Are you able to see what is using the resources?

I just tried your site and after waiting for sever moments it loaded a completely blank page.

I can't remember what flavor your site runs on.
But maybe if you are able to, restart the server/mysql/apache?

But then again if you move to Mindraven it would be Ricks problem. HE HE.

Looks like who ever is hosting the vps had some issues for a short period of time. And kept you out of the loop.
What does the cpu/resources look like now?

7.5.2 to 7.5.5 definitely shouldn't be anything extremely different as far as resource usage. Would have been interesting to see what the resource usage actually was.

How long was it behaving like that for? Just the 30 minutes or so?

I don't know anything about SMF but anyway.
The screen shot does not show what the error is.
But it could have hosed the Mysql server if it had problems.Meaning tying up the connection to the server.
Which would have impacted ubb.
You might try turning it on again for a test.

It is pages and pages of spammers trying to log into banned account, notice the IP number trying to access his various accounts.. something like 14,000 joined over the past three months...

Pretty sure that is the problem...

Again I don't know about smf but is is apparent that there is a security risk.
So I would think either enable some captcha method for the site or start thinking about somehow converting to ubb.

They do have the captcha thingy for registration. There are a couple of work arounds for that..

I do have another license for UBB and was thinking about converting.... or starting a fresh site...

Can I have more than one language pack? It is Portuguese and Spanish..

Well you can use any language pack to your liking.
But you will need to pick a default one to use. For registration etc until the user can select a different language.
So you need to look up if one is available for that version.
I did not look.
But I don't recall a importer from smf.
Okay I just peeked and there is one for smf 1.1 so....
