While digging through the control panel, I noticed I had the links in the signatures set to "no follow." I really want the benefit of the link juice so to speak. I unchecked the box and it said the content has to rebuild. Does it do this automatically? Will it change all old posts to follow or have I lost the juice from these old posts? I really want any help I can get from the links to my other sites.

They will not get rebuilt unless you opt to do so in the control panel
I have have not changed my setting since the option was there. I opted for nofollow on both items.
But anyway the items are for posts and signatures and you forum is not that big so a rebuild would not take that long.
I would goto control panel> Content re builder and start on all of them. Or at least Rebuild Signatures.

Ideally you should use nofollow on external links.

You do not wish to get dragged down by issues on any site that you link to.

I wish that the no follow was a permission that I could set so that general users would have no follow but everyone related to the site would not.
