Weird, I'm lookin at the perms and each user for that forum can upload a filesize of 2048576; the gallery directory on the server is owned by the webserver user for that forum, and the temp dir (in the ubb) is chmodded 777 as well.
Out of curiosity, how much free space is on the server?

I thought i would register and take a peek. Then I get a error I have never seen before: Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Exception' with message 'String could not be parsed as XML' in /home/ambergri/public_html/forum/templates/compile/%%99^991^991DEFC0%%newuser_signup.tpl.php:7 Stack trace: #0 /home/ambergri/public_html/forum/templates/compile/%%99^991^991DEFC0%%newuser_signup.tpl.php(7): SimpleXMLElement->__construct('') #1 /home/ambergri/public_html/forum/libs/smarty/Smarty.class.php(1262): include('/home/ambergri/...') #2 /home/ambergri/public_html/forum/libs/smarty/Smarty.class.php(1105): Smarty->fetch('newuser_signup....', NULL, NULL, true) #3 /home/ambergri/public_html/forum/ubbthreads.php(498): Smarty->display('newuser_signup....') #4 /home/ambergri/public_html/forum/ubbthreads.php(479): smartyDisplay(Array) #5 /home/ambergri/public_html/forum/ubbthreads.php(311): smartyPrepare(Array) #6 {main} thrown in /home/ambergri/public_html/forum/templates/compile/%%99^991^991DEFC0%%newuser_signup.tpl.php on line 7 As soon as I agreed to the board rules this popped up.

last registration 9:30am or so on the server. can you poke around and see if anything amiss? like an hour and i'll pay you? should i run the rebuild database files? looks like an xml parsing error. we restarted apache, then when it didn't help restarted the server. seems like a UBB software error but nothing was changed.

Well, the server has ample space, does the configured site have a quota that could have been exceeded?

nope. its on its own server. no other domains on it.
i looked thru the directories under /forum and don't see any obvious space problems. any directory can have unlimited number of files in it as i specifically asked. worked with the server folks all afternoon and can't find any problems there.
how about rebuilding the database?

Weird; I checked all of the chmods and for corrupted files, and permissions of the forums; everything checked out and I couldn't see any spot where anything was wrong... Weird that it just kind of fixed itself...

from my server folks Based on the notes in this ticket, nothing was changed on our end since the ticket was opened. I attempted to follow your the logic behind the login page code with the assistance of Firebug and the code on your server and it appears that after you click on the 'Proceed' button confirming that the user accepts the rules, that there are some calls to some outside websites. One website in particular ( http://www.stopforumspam.com/) appears to detect if the user is a spammer prior to letting them register and proceed on to the next page to input their registration information. I have found this forum posting on their site -- http://www.stopforumspam.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=2820 It appears as if they have been experiencing some site issues during the past 24 hours. It's possible that if that site was offline while you were attempting to register a new user, that you may have received some of the errors that you saw yesterday.

Well, the stop forum spam mod, if their services where having issues, would cause the register problems; however, they wouldn't have anything to do with the gallery settings...

See, I hate problems that just go away lol; you take all the time to diagnose a problem and BAM lol
