Sandy is just hitting us now; south-western, NH. Already we have had some tops of trees and limbs come down. The rain has suddenly gotten heavy. Things should worsen over the next 2-5 hours, according to the forecast for this area.

All stocked up with food and we have a large portable generator so with the exception of trees coming down on the house, we don't expect any inconvenience. smile

It is something that Florida is used to but the forecast for this one is really bad with the projected storm surge
I hope the best for all of you.

Brother I agree! I have ridden out many hurricanes in my time. I have dealt with them in Florida, even in Texas. I rode a couple of Hurricanes out on a US Navy Destroyer... Hugo (anyone in North Carolina remember that one)? That one felt like our ship was sinking. This hurricane here, with the associated cold weather system attached has been a real "New" type storm. It is really (not to sound morbid), but really fun to watch this thing come through. It has NOT been your typical hurricane by any means.

Well not to bad here in my neck of the woods so far...but the eye is right over me now...so we'll see how we fare after the back end comes through.

Downtown got hit pretty hard in Wilmington, and our beaches....well....I didn't see much left of them in the pictures.

Dunny

P.S. The winds are just now starting to pick up again...so looks like the eye is past.

Update-

Not to bad here in my neck of the woods... though my 250 yr old house creaked and groaned...only had about 2 inches of water in the basement that was probably from seeping through the old mortar between the stones. All in all I fared well here. Others weren't so fortunate though.. and New York and Atlantic City WOW...just unbelievable the power of that storm. My thoughts are with all of the people around that were affected way more harshly than I was.

My deck got smashed up by a tree, and had two downed trees block my driveway. I'm still without power in CT and don't expect it back until next week. It's been getting colder at night now. Thankfully I have lots of friends with power to crash with. It's just a hassle with a wife and two kids in tow.

But, I really have nothing to complain about when you see what happened along the NJ shore, and up to 100 homes in Queens, NY!

Damage caused by a fire at Breezy Point is shown in the New York City borough of Queens, on October 30, 2012. The fire destroyed between 80 and 100 houses Monday night in the flooded neighborhood. More than 190 firefighters have contained the six-alarm blaze fire, but they are still fighting some pockets of fire.

Aye.. well bro at least the trees fell on the driveway and not the house like those two boys on a sleepover that got killed. Everyone safe and able to be in tow to friend's houses... I call that a win for the home team bud. Good it wasn't worse for you.
