My main forum was taken down yesterday and today by an attack by 80Legs. I finally got it under control by setting up a URLRewrite to send them all to a dummy file.

While I was working on that, I saw that I still had MySQL 5.0 running and there is now a MySQL 5.5. I'm normally hesitant to upgrade if it's working, since I could break everything. But I do have slow-forum issues and maybe this will help.

Has anyone else done this upgrade, and is it fairly easy?

I just finished upgrading to the latest version MySQL 5.5 and everything is running smoothly. So it seems like it's fine to upgrade to MySQL 5.5.

Things are still running fairly slowly though, so now I'm looking at upgrading PHP to see if that helps.
