I have in CP > Feature Settings > Max width for images used in posts? 800

However, using the "File Manager" utility to attach an image, if any dimension is over 400 px, it displays a link to the attached image rather than displaying it inline.

Is there another setting somewhere that controls the physical dimenions allowed for inline images?

there is a setting for the SIZE of the file, however... just keep looking..

you'll find it wink

Yep... found it! The resolution was increasing the "file size" in:

CP > Display Options > General > Topic Display Options > Max Size for inline uploaded images
