Hello all.. I've migrated my forum to a VPS account at a new host and seem to have a plethora of issues.

Here is what I see (or don't see) so far...

Some lines in the .htaccess file had to be commented out for the forum to display at all.

Main Forum now displays, but there is no left column (with islands).

There is nothing listed under Active Topics/Active Posts tab and no error shown.

following in error log when trying to list a users posts:

Script: XXX/XXX/XXX/scripts/userposts.inc.php - Line: 113
SELECT COUNT(t3.POST_ID)
FROM ubbt_TOPICS as t1,
ubbt_FORUMS as t2,
ubbt_POSTS as t3
WHERE t3.USER_ID = 980 AND t3.TOPIC_ID = t1.TOPIC_ID
AND t1.FORUM_ID = t2.FORUM_ID AND t2.FORUM_ID in ( )
AND t3.POST_IS_APPROVED = '1' AND t2.FORUM_IS_ACTIVE = '1'
ORDER BY t3.POST_POSTED_TIME DESC
- You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ')
AND t3.POST_IS_APPROVED = '1' AND t2.FORUM_IS_ACTIVE = '1'
ORDER BY t' at line 6

Any help, or advice where to start would be greatly appreciated.

Bill

A lot of the time overrides exist in the .htaccess that affect the web server itself which would have to be adjusted when moving to a new environment. FYI, threads does not ship with a .htaccess file nor is one a requirement for utilizing the product.

Delete everything in /cache and /templates/compiled, with the exception of the index files, then login to your forum and use the "clear cache" feature which will rebuild everything.

Could be the above issue.

I'm not really sure on the last one

Hmm, I don't see a cache folder ... or a cache_builders folder, could that be the problem? can I just copy them over from the old host?

Problems solved..

For some reason the Cache and cache_builders folders didn't show up on the new host when it was migrated. I copied them over, and like magic!! issues gone.

Thanks Gizmo for steering me in the right direction !!!!

Bill,
Since you moved your site. You may want to follow Gizmo's instruction to clear cache.
Also include the sessions folder(except for the index files as noted)
But you may want to take a gander at your includes/config.inc.php file.
And double check all the paths are correct. especially for the sessions folder. This is one item that is not in the control panel. The only time you set it is when you install for the first time.

Ruben,

Thanks, I did clear the cache before I found out the folders were missing. It seems to be running fine, but if I get a chance I'll close down later tonite and clear those folders if you think it's a good idea.

The config.inc.php paths look to be good. I did a full cpanel backup at the old host and had the techs unpack it at the new location, so most everything stayed the same.

Today I tried to disapprove a new registrant (spammer) and got a 406 error. Right now the forum is unreachable.

After some research it seems it may have to do with mod_security and I've asked to have it disabled. Has anyone had an issue with mod_security? Is there a specific rule, or rules that causes the problem?
