The spammers are hitting my site hard. How do I set up my registration where I can manually approve each new register? Thanks for the help in advance...

Yes I'm getting battered also.
Go to Control Panel and down the left click on Registration Settings and tick Enable Registration Queue? - that's what I do on mine.
However, this then creates a huge list of requests that need to be denied. I need to sort out a CAPTCHA or something.
I require a unique email address per registration and for that email address to be confirmed but they are still getting through.

CAPTCHA is included in ubb already. You just need to enable it.

I currently have CAPTCHA enabled and registration queue enabled and they still get through without me approving the registration. I'm not sure if there is anything else I can do. I have about 10 Spammers a day getting through to the site.

what version are you using. If you have the registration queue enabled then you would have approved them. Unless you have a old version subject to being hacked.

I'm using version 7.5.3 now. I am looking to upgrade to the latest version. Will some one do the upgrade on my site for a fee? If so, I'm interested in doing this if you can PM a quote to me. Thanks.

I have stopped them from taking over the forum. It was a bot from this address @mail998.com I looked it and read about it I have been ALL day deleting every one of the 55 plus pages of FAKE user names, still more to go wish I can delete more than one at a time they wont get in again
I guess the Grinch brought me a nice Christmas present because it started late Christmas day evening and into the AM and till I found it.
Have reopened forum but still deleting these &*^*&**)))*&*&^^%^ Happy New year

I had this problem with one of my forums. I enabled the anti-spam hook-in and that VASTLY reduced the spammers coming in. I still auto-approve registrations, but it means far fewer I have to weed through.
I highly recommend enabling that anti-spam hookin with the stop forum spam group.
The more we all work together to identify spammers, the less trouble they can cause.
