7.6.0 bugs? Right now I cannot login to my britbike forum nor to this forum on my work computer. Never happened before. The login page don't show it changes to the cfrm page. can login on my iPhone. Am using ie and chrome browsers

"No matter where you go, there you are." "If you can't do something smart, Do something right" "There are three kinds of people in the world, those who can count, and those who can't"
As I mentioned I used explorer and chrome , I found a way to the login page. Go via the register page and submit the button without filling in any info takes me to the login page. Strange but the only way in for me at work. And I could login pre 7.6.0
I guess you do know Microsoft explorer is going away? The new version is EDGE. But I would try firefox just to rule out it may be IE or chrome version you are using..

about 3 nights ago, using chrome on the desktop, i came across your exact same issue of not being able to access the login page at all.
i was successfully able to do it on ie11, edge, firefox, firefox mobile, and chrome mobile. but not desktop chrome.
ill see if i can reproduce the issue again tonight, and then use your procedure to bypass the bug with that. i can then attempt to track down things a bit further.
this is a bug. it should not be happening. it never presented itself during the 8 months of testing the new(ish) login script lines.
it was strange. since the issue only happened on one install of ubbt760. but would not happen on another install. the situations were identical though.
5 forums worked on chrome desktop. 2 forums did not work. morgans forum and the other live forum i tested. both were using basic http and not on any cdn that i was aware of.
Could it possibly be a cookie issue in some way? The only other thing I can think of would be the server side cache in the /templates/compile file for that user.
Try deleting the contents of that folder except the index file and see if it comes up with the page to login then.
I'm sure you do this as well, when I test I use an admin, global mod, mod, and user account login. Is it happening with any and all or just the admin account? I really doubt it would make a difference but the page, as you know as you wrote the code, is generated differently with each type of account.
Is there even the slightest possibility this can be related to the age check function. I can't see how but there was a past issue, and now corrected, with registration in the COPPA verification check. I had fully tested that with at least 20 registrations while testing and it now works perfectly while registering.
I just logged out on my site to try something, and can't log back in with chrome, stuck in a loop like above. cleared cache/cookies for the past 24 hours. the past week, no change.

TESTED WITH desktop/windows10 Chrome Desktop Version 57.0.2987.54 beta (64-bit), tested 2/22,2/23a Chrome Desktop Version 57.0.2987.74 beta (64-bit), tested 2/23b Chrome Desktop Version 56.0.2924.87 release, tested 2/23 Firefox Desktop 51.0.1 (64-bit) Internet Explorer 11.0.15031 Microsoft Edge 40.15031
mobile/android7.1 Chrome Mobile 57.0.2987.74 beta (ARM) Firefox Mobile 51.0.4 (ARM) Firefox Mobile beta 52.0 (ARM)
mobile/windows10 Microsoft Edge 40.15025
mobile/ios9.35 Safari (whatever is the latest version)
I tested before and after clearing cookies and browser cache. Regardless, my results did not seem to change at all.
YESTERDAY 2/22 -- All browsers worked for logging in to the 10 UBBT760 sites I tested... except Chrome Desktop beta with BritBikes and AGF
TODAY 2/23 -- All browsers worked for logging in to the 10 UBBT760 sites I tested... except Chrome Desktop beta with AGF. BritBikes now works for me on Chrome Desktop beta.
edit: tested BadFrog's Vanning on every browser listed above. I'm also having the same issues as him, but only with Chrome Desktop beta. All other browsers work as expected.
edit2: I just updated to "Chrome Desktop Version 57.0.2987.74 beta (64-bit)." Nothing changed.
edit3: I just tested with "Firefox Mobile beta 52.0 (ARM)" and this also exhibits the problem. But Firefox, Firefox Mobile, and Chrome Release are all good. No problems at all.

I'm still researching the issue that is only related to Chrome Desktop, but in the meantime, you could force entry in to your site by visiting a page that gives the alternate Login
You'll get the error, "This user is no longer in our database." Just click on "Return to the previous page" link. You will be logged in at that page, and will be able to go about your ways within your forum.

I use cloudflare, I have disabled it and it doesn't change anything.

The only two browsers that I could find having the issue, were both BETA versions.
LOGIN PAGE PROBLEM Chrome Desktop Version 57.0.2987.74 beta (64-bit), probably the developer edition also. Firefox Mobile beta 52.0 (ARM)
NO LOGIN PAGE PROBLEM desktop/windows10 Chrome Desktop Version 56.0.2924.87 release Firefox Desktop 51.0.1 (64-bit) Internet Explorer 11.0.15031 Microsoft Edge 40.15031

Isaac and I have been discussing this issue on Hangouts for the last couple of hours, I was actually having these same issues with the latest Firefox BETA on Android 7.1, and it looks like the issue is with some changed variable within the Chrome Beta and FireFox Mobile Beta.
What versions are you gents who're experiencing issues running? If you're experiencing an issue in a BETA/DEV build can you please install and try to recreate the issue with the latest non-beta/dev release? We need to try to nail down that it's only affecting beta/dev builds, so we have something to track down.
issues with Chrome Version 58.0.3018.3 dev (64-bit)
using chrome version 56.0.2924.87 (64-bit) on my other computer, seems to be working.
that being said, I had this happen a couple days ago and clearing my cache worked, but this time it didn't.

Those who are having issues, please try to replicate them here at central and over at UBBDev; the proposed fix is to remove lines 76 and 77 from /scripts/login.inc.php (take care to not remove line #78):
PHP Code
} else {
return array("location" => "cfrm");

So, just encountered the bug again, deleted 76/77 and refreshed the page and it worked fine
"No matter where you go, there you are." "If you can't do something smart, Do something right" "There are three kinds of people in the world, those who can count, and those who can't"
Yes I removed line 76 and 77. I counted down to 76 by hand and removed exactly the code you published I edited using filezilla on the remote server. I use IMAC at home and don't seem to have a editor that show lines, well maybe if i edit on the imac..
download 7.60 again from the site, and re-upload those files, they have been corrected. that way you don't have to worry about deleting the wrong thing
"No matter where you go, there you are." "If you can't do something smart, Do something right" "There are three kinds of people in the world, those who can count, and those who can't"
the downloaded files will have a date newer than 2/15 - that's how you can tell.

I am having log in problems as well. I tried from a desktop, laptop and iPad on two different 7.6 forums, one being this forum. When I hit "log In" I was routed to the forum summary page - I could not access the log in page. Someone suggested trying a different connection, so I used my mobile hotspot and log in worked!
Here's a fix. If you disable "stop forum spam" the log in problem is solved. This is 100% reproducible.

That would have resolved the issue. The problem starts because of the beta version of the browser you're running. This is not an issue on the current Release versions of Firefox or Chrome. This is not a cookie or cache issue.
Whats happening is that the beta versions of the browsers are looking at the page before displaying it to you, and calling it a "login page." Then they are not permitting any conversation from that page, to the StopForumSpam third-party. So because SFS cannot be connected to, your forum is delivering a silent error and would take you back to the main Category/Forum page.
Performing the single modification above, resolves the check that happens when a user first gets to that login page.
Again, the only browsers currently experiencing this issue are Mobile Firefox beta, and Chrome beta/developer.

I know the code tweak seems to have solved it, but this is something worth looking into, as I have SFS enabled on my site as well.

I’ve downloaded the latest .zip ( 5mins ago ), noted new files – login.inc.php showed a 2 line change ... I uploaded that and I still have the problem, unless I turn OFF stopforumspam.
SFS settings are ‘auto with silent fail’, when ON.
Keep in mind that the problem exists here on ubbcentral as well and I can’t turn off SFS here to really test that part.
Also, this exists on multiple browsers and multiple devices - desktop, laptop, iPad using Chrome, IE and Safari.

It has been looked in to. This is why several browsers (Release versions, beta versions, developer versions) were tested, across several different operating systems (Windows10 DESKTOP and MOBILE, WindowsXP, Google Android 4.4 and 7.1.1, Chrome OS, Apple iOS 9.3 on iPhone and iPad).
They were tested with IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. The problem presented itself. A resolution was created and initiated. The problem did not exhibit itself again.
Other than Mac, was there a browser combo not tested?
JPG was able to login here by switching over to his verizon hotspot ( new IP )
I was trying to get him to isolate different cases.
Switching hotspot also 'fixed' login on his forum as well..

Have you tried the obvious? He could marked as a spammer, and might want to visit this page to get his address corrected. http://stopforumspam.com/removal

only suggested it as I hadn't seen SFS mentioned in the previous troubleshooting

The "login" file which had the two single lines edited, was purely related to SFS. It was to help prevent a Spammer from logging in to your forum.

Stop Forum Spam provides free access to a database of known forum and blog spammers. UBB.threads can connect with this database to check Email Addresses and IP Addresses in an attempt to block known spammers from creating new accounts, and logging in to post on your forum.

OK, the obvious seems to have been the problem. Not sure why I am able to log in to forums running 7.5.8 and couldn't log in to 7.6, but this new IP I have is listed at stopforumspam. I requested removal.

The reason why you could login to 7.5.8 is because SD never implimented the full SFS when he used Gizmo's code. SD only used what he wanted to use, which was just checking SFS at the time of posting.
760 includes the entire SFS package. Which checks at login, account creation, sending PM, posting messages/replies. The entire package, as Gizmo had originally written it.
In addition, 760 supports IPv4 and IPv6. 758 only supported IPv4.
OK back at work and can't login the regular way. tried also att UBBDEV and noticed below message. Obvialsy our Company ip is bad i guess

Your IP address is currently listed in the Stop Forum Spam database as a known spammer/spambot, and as such your account cannot be registered. To proceed you'll need to request a removal to clear yourself from their database.

Now I understand. our Company IP address is as bad according to Stop forum spam and i had settings set to Auto with Silent Fail
changing it to Auto with Message brought up a message with that info. with Manual or Semi-Auto its still possible to login.. and there was light finally..

Spam Protection Level
You have four choices; Manual (initial setting), Semi-Auto, Auto with message to Registrant and Auto with silent Fail. Each have their pros and cons. •Manual - This allows the Admin to easily check new registrations with one click •Semi-Auto - This automatically checks new registrations in member management, but might delay, if there are timeouts with StopForumSpam •Auto with Message - Adds to Semi-Auto and gives a new registrant a message that they were blocked and how to remedy the situation •Auto with Silent Fail - Does what Auto with Message does, but fails silently, which might fool spammers into thinking they signed up.
I believe that as a regular user (not an admin account) who has been flagged in SFS, posting and sending message is blocked. So even if a spammer gets in through an error page, they are blocked from doing a bit of interacting.
