I had the version 7.6 installed and I'm getting couple 'fatal error':

1) Under Master Settings-->Feature Settings-->Attachments--> Test Directory, I get this error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function smartyPrepare() in /home/imigcom/public_html/forum/libs/html.inc.php on line 692

Same error here:
2) Under Tools & Information -->Database tools -->Backup Tables --> Test Directory, I get this error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function smartyPrepare() in /home/imigcom/public_html/forum/libs/html.inc.php on line 692

same error here:
3) Under Membership -->Profile Settings-->Avatars--> Test Directory, I get this error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function smartyPrepare() in /home/imigcom/public_html/forum/libs/html.inc.php on line 692

Looks like every call to html.inc.php end up on this error. The line 692 is:
smartyPrepare($data);

Any help?

Can I ask that you;

1) Clear your Template Cache directory (/templates/compile) by manually removing all the files within that directory. All except "index.html"
Dont worry, the files will automatically be rebuilt.

2) Check the permissions of that directory. IIRC, it should be 755.

In addition, it looks like the tests for being able to write to those tested directories are failing.
What does your "Control Panel » Permission Checks" page tell you?

After making the changes, attempt to do the same procedures you've listed in your post again. The errors you're getting are server specific.

smartyPrepare($data); is the code which preps the entire page, before handing off to the Smarty template engine.

The /templates/compile folder should be 777 IMO

Follow instructions by Id242 and Gizmo:

Delete all files under /templates/compile but index

Check permissions on folders, both /templates and /templates/compile are 777

went to Tools & Information-->Permission Checks and got green "OK" on all lines

Test again all 3 directories and got the same issue, all responded with browser error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function smartyPrepare() in /home/imigcom/public_html/forum/libs/html.inc.php on line 692

Let me know what else can I do to test it.
Tks.

The folders that you are getting the failed or errors on, what are the file permissions on those folders?

What are the locations as entered in those settings boxes for those folders you're getting the failed and errors on?

Ehm, could you install the UBB.threads System Requirements Test and provide us with any information returned?

Could you try disabling the zlib compression option in the control panel as a test?
Dashboard -> Master Settings -> Primary Settings -> Advanced Settings (at the bottom) -> Enable Zlib Data Compression

OK. in parts on Jasper and Gizmo:

The folders permissions:

1) Under Master Settings-->Feature Settings-->Attachments--> Test Directory,
/home/imigcom/public_html/forum/attach = 777

2) Under Tools & Information -->Database tools -->Backup Tables --> Test Directory,
/home/imigcom/public_html/forum/admin/backup/ = 744

3) Under Membership -->Profile Settings-->Avatars--> Test Directory, I get this error:
/home/imigcom/public_html/forum/images/avatarsM = 755

the zlib compression was already disabled. I'm using shared server from Hostgator, and they do not permit compression allowed on that.

Below is the UBB.Threads system requirements test. Seams normal to me:

Ensure that these are set:
/templates 777
/templates/default 777
/templates/compile 777

I believe that this error is related to Smarty being unable to manage its compile directory:
Code
Fatal error: Call to undefined function smartyPrepare() in /home/imigcom/public_html/forum/libs/html.inc.php on line 692

Could you copy the chunk surrounding these errors from your error log? The lines preceding/after may point towards additional information, at least something to hint...
