in user permissions, in addition to a time limit on users being able to delete their own posts, what about what that allows them to delete it on a longer timeframe as long as there have been no replies?

Have them "report" the post, so a moderator can review and then delete (or not) that post.
The post may contain content or news that would be useful to your website. Such as a How-To guide, or a News / Event, or even a For Sale / Group Buy items which may not need replies, but are still very useful. Especially if its some sort of documentation or photos of a custom step-by-step job they are working on.
But to answer your question, I don't believe that feature is currently part of the stock scripts.
Though, you do have moderators for your forums which can perform these "smaller" tasks for you. Ask them to enable their notification option (within their "Preferences" page), so they can get an email or message about actions that are needed. Tell your members to use the "Report" button if they need something changed/deleted in a post.
right, put this down as a feature request then if it's possible... say, someone makes a post, I can set a limit of 24 hours, or a week, where they are able to delete it themselves if no replies have been made.
