UBB 7.57

I know the version is old. I don't have the option to upgrade.

Underneath each text box for a new message there is a "Markup" menu, with several choices.

How would I set the default for that menu to be "UBB Code & HTML" for all users?

How would I make that an option in the preferences for each user?

Thanks much in advance for any help.

Go to Control Panel > Forum Permissions

Within the following two sections, enter a 1 for each of your user groups that you'd like to allow that feature for:
"Can post using HTML"
"Can post using Markup/UBBCode"

In all normal situations, I would advise against allowing HTML posts by any user that is not an administrator. The need for posting pure HTML on a BBCode-enabled forum is very rare, and it enables abuse of security related isues.

I would also advise never enabling HTML posting for any user you wouldn't trust with full access to your system, they'll be able to embed JavaScript and flash and make any pages their posts appear on completely unreadable (just imagine shoving a </body> tag randomly in a random post, and going in to have to clean it up).

It's why we have the BBCode system.
