Is this the default setting for a new member see bottom? It looks like that when a new member register. I would like Receive Email Notifications For Private Messages to be set as YES.
The options are as below what happen when following choices are pre made by admin?

Show
Show require

Email and Private Message Preferences
- Accept Private Messages From Other Users YES
- Receive Email Notifications For Private Messages NO
- Email Updates To Follow Lists NO
- Accept Community Emails From Admin YES

The variables are hard coded in the associated sections in the newuser.inc.php script file.

so instead of keeping
- Receive Email Notifications For Private Messages hidden on the registration page it would be better to use show&require in that case the new member need to make a choice.
Let me know how you guys think is best.
Thanks

"show & require" an email selection seems best. Especially since opt-in to emails is preferred versus opt-out.

Forcing an opt-out is like saying, "by registering a new account with us, you agree to accept our emails -- unless you turn them off."
