I've been having problems with performance on the homepage of my board. Loading times of up to 10 seconds, while other pages are swift. I'm looking for someone who can suggest some fixes.

It looks like you're running PHP5.6 with UBB.threads 7.7; I'd recommend switching over to PHP7, you'll notice some speed increases.

As for your homepage, I can't be sure as its not a UBB.threads page; it looks largely static except for the bit that shows the latest posts on the right; is this processed from an RSS feed created by UBB.threads, or are you performing a database query to pull those latest threads? The RSS feed option would have less of an impact as UBB.threads uses a cache for RSS feed content (it won't do a new database hit every time your homepage is loaded).

I've found it's to do with showing the number of unread posts on the homepage. Was quite surprised to see that as I don't remember it making a big difference a couple of months ago. What is the query like to check those new posts?

Sorry, I didn't answer your question about PHP version. It's not a solution to the issue - I tried upgrading to 7.3 but I went back because it didn't make a difference.

I was speaking entirely of your custom landing page here https://www.fiatcoupeclub.org/ which is not a UBB.threads page, so as to what the query is that pulls the posts there, that'd be something you had developed unless its a post island, but it doesn't look like a post island.

For your landing page I'd recommend setting up an RSS feed in UBB.threads that queries the sections you wish to share, and use an RSS feed parser to read that content (as the data would be cached based on settings made for the feed in the control panel)

As said, I found the issue after some more digging (posting on a Forum helps!) but I was surprised about the massive impact.

Do you have either of these (CP -> Display -> General -> General Tab) enabled:
Show Total # of Unread Replies in Topics
Show Total # of Unread Posts Per Forum

They can cause significant load on larger forums.

Yes, it's never been this dramatic though. Used to have a 3GB board that didn't had the issue. It's been scaled down after GDPR kicked in so very puzzled to see the performance hit lately.
