We have had issues since changing to ubthreads v 7.6.2 with the dark style pinned threads that was previously used (late v 6. something).

Probably best to look at the 2 pics of standard/dark it's pretty obvious what is wrong....

First is the ubbthreads default;....

Second is the same screen in the dark style....

on the dark style you cannot see what the pinned topic is about.

The board owner knows enough about the software to change things, but not enough to solve them.

Can anyone give me instructions on what he needs to do to solve the issue?

Thanks

Well it appears that the colors were changed from default and now you don't have a contrast
well two ways edit the style in the controlpanel.
Probably the item area is Post List Properties
Or just import a net new dark theme from the style pack 70 zip file in the members area.
Then follow the read me file included.

Extract the text file run import style from the cp style menu.
It is a tab on the bottom.
Unless there are missing image files it should used the default image folders for dark
Then delete your original dark style.

It looks like the forum you are coming from is running an incredibly outdated style (2006 ???) on a more recent version (2018) of the forum software.

Instruct the forum admin update their stock forum style to a current version, as described in this thread:

I knew there was a how to post you made somewhere.
I just could not find it. quickly

But the readme in the style pack explains it all anyway.

so I should steer him to package_1 as I know he doesn't want to have many options?

Also guessing he will have to re-apply the changes for the courier new font that you helped me with before regarding our "table" issues (which worked perfectly on the light scheme, he didn't do it for the dark theme).

I advise that they should install the most recent version of the style pack, which is UBBT77.zip. The ones prior to that are barely maintained, but did get a major update in 2015 to handle some showstopping issues with mobile, and to update poorly formatted css (what you're /probably/ pointing out now), and fix some css errors.

Again, updating their website files is all the job of the technically inclined forum owner (web administrator) to undertake. Point them to that post. They should be able to read it and easily understand it.

Isaac, thanks again.

I'll point him at UBBT77.zip and the thread on how to do it.

Sometimes board owners are hard work facepalm

I assume he will have to apply your previous recommendation to both styles

Quote
1) Go to Control Panel > Styles
2) Find the forum style you'd like to update, and click its name.
3) Navigate to Forum Properties > .forum-input
4) add to the bottom of that list, "font-family:Courier New;"
Click on "Update or Add Style" button at the bottom.
