Hi,

Would it be possible to have the forums listed in the Content > Forums section to be organized better, such as having them descending or ascending in order from 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5, 4 ,3, 2, 1? Instead, it currently just has a garbled listing of the forums in the list being all over the place... It's been a bit frustrating to look at and see where everything should be, especially when the number of forums increases...

Their order is based on the order that you have set them to be in. If they look "all over the place," then your forums are also all over the place.

Use the "Order" column to give each category their own ordering. Then give the sub-categories their owner ordering.

The structure is based on a standard tree chart.

For example:

Attached screenshots are the categories and forum ordering for UBBCentral. From the screenshots you can see that every main forum (left, with no indentation) is given an ascending number. That number hierarchy (ascending order) is what's displayed on your public forum.

Sub-forums are indented, and their ordering is also determined by their own number sequence hierarchy.

Main Categories and their ordering are managed within the Control Panel > Categories manager.

I would also suggest using a TENS rule for the numbering.

ie: 10, 20, 30, 40 .... etc

instead of: 1, 2, 3, 4 .... etc

This allows for space between things for additions / corrections in the future, without having to update a lot of numbers in a ripple effect..

I think what he is talking about is the screen sorts by category order. Which makes the forum id number jump around.looking un ordered. in the control panel

What I think is asked can you add a sorting by field like the user list is on the front end.

Not sure how that would help.
The issue is poor planning which we all are guilty of. when starting out
How are we to know how many categories we need nor where we place forums when starting out.
