Hi, tried to search for info but failed,

We have some members that subscribe for annual premium membership "group" with below preferences.

Allow Access By Subscription ENABLED
Subscription Billing Cycle 12 months
Recurring Subscription, Subscribers will be automatically billed when the current billing cycle is completed. ENABLED

Reattempt On Failed Transactions DISABLED

Please note PayPal is their only option

My question is: What is the process when a member want to cancel their membership?
I don't see a cancel button or link anywhere for them to use.
Thanks for your advise.

As long as they have their payment method set to not renew, then the subscription will end on the END date of that subscription.

Just as Ruben advised, all the user needs to do is cancel the subscription payment through their PayPal account.

At the end of the UBBT subscription, UBBT will attempt to contact PayPal and request another payment for that "Subscription ID." When it gets denied (because the user canceled the sub), UBBT will then close it out and the subscription will be seen as ended.

The user gets 100% of their subscription time, no matter if they canceled early or in the middle of the subscription, because 100% of the subscription is paid in full at the start date.

If you've talked with your user and there needs to be a custom arrangement, it can be managed through Control Panel > Transactions, all manually.

Thanks for the clarity.
I understand what you say.

The reason I asked was that I also offer PayPal subscription for advertisers using Paypal menu and with it comes a unsubscribe button.
This I had not see on UBB so asked just in case I had missed it.

Thanks again for the answers.

What I can't answer to is when someone that does not have a paypal account can pay as a guest at paypal with a creditcard.
I am not sure but I guess maybe they need to call the cc company to cancel and or renew every month?

The best thing would be if an unsubscribe could be developed. That said they can also inform the ubb admin so he/I could manually inactivate on ubb and PayPal. It is a pain but hey they contributed with funds so it’s a labor of love right.

But how would the admin be able to deactivate the user's PayPal subscription option? The user would lose the remainder of what they already paid-in-full for at the beginning. Cancelling a subscription mid-period will not return an adjusted amount back to their account. When the user deactivates the subscription from their own paypal account, it will no longer accept processing of future requests. UBBT will continue to provide the service that the user prepaid for, but will not automatically renew the subscription when the period ends.

Subscriptions are not prorated or partial amounts. They are for complete blocks of time that you have agreed to deliver for each of their payments.

If you need special extension/termination arrangements for a user, those can be made from your control panel on a per user basis.

Isaac, I have learned that when a member ask me to stop their subscription

I do a search for the subscription in PayPal Dashboard > Manage recurring payments to cancel it there. that will not change the end date. it will probably nowadays change the membership to inactive in UBB CP. I am not 100% it works that way have to see next time someone ask.
The last member cancelled his payment in Paypal by him self and it seems to have put his membership to inactive in UBB CP but it kept his end date to same.

---------------------

I have a theory that I wish to test..
- These UBB memberships are ordered by using Britbike forums UBB subscription forms.
- On Britbike website outside the forum are also Paypal banner advertisers order forms, shown on this page https://www.britbike.com/advertising.html
These both subscriptions have nothing in common except its being paid thru Paypal.
Note there is one unsubscribe button on the banner advertising page.

What If a Britbike forum premium member clicks on the Banner advertising unsubscribe button would he be able to cancel his forum subscription payments on Paypal???
Second question: If so would it also change status from active to inactive in UBB CP???

I can't do it myself as I cannot pay to my own Paypal account. I will have to find a member that could test it for me.

Anyway I received answer to my initial question and there is no way for an upgraded member to end his subscription on the forum he must do it in Paypal or ask me/admin to do it manually.

Thanks

as stated before, the subscription system does not prorate time and billing.

when a user buys a period, they get that full period up front.

cancelling early will not end the subscription. it will only prevent it from renewing when the time for renewal arrives again.

Ruben I looked into it and it is the very same unsubscribe button I use for banner advertisers.
I will put it in the UBB forum subscribing pages as well.
Cheers
Morgan
