We're currently being advised by our hosting company to upgrade our OS. CentOS 7 is our current OS, and it is EOL on 6/30/2024. Once we move to the new OS, mysql 5.7 is no longer supported,. What' versions of mysql will work with UBBThreads 7.7.5 as of this date? When will support for php 8 be included? These are becoming pressing issues that may force us to move to a different forum software, which would be a gigantic PITA.

Thanks Ruben. I just got done running the upgrade checker multiple times and resolving some issues, so it looks like I can now upgrade to mysql 8.0. Wish me luck. 👀

You'll be fine with MySQL, PHP7.4 is the highest version that we support until v8 is out

Thanks. I'll schedule an update of mysql, and that will allow us to migrate to AlmaLinux 9. We can wait on PHP until version 8 is released.

The elevation of our server was aborted due to the need to upgrade MySQL to version 8.0. I'm going to perform that upgrade this weekend. The hosting company informed me that if we elevate the server to AlmLinux 8, PHP 7.4 will be fully supported. However, if we elevate to AlmaLinux 9, only PHP 8.0 and above is supported.

I'm trying to decide if we should do a two-step elevation (move to AL 8 and wait on 9 until UBB supports PHP 8.0) or hold off on the entire process until UBB fully supports PHP 8.0. Do you have any estimate of when UBB 8.0 will be released? (I don't need an exact date. I'm wondering if it's weeks away or months away.)

The files are solid at this point, but we're waiting for Isaac's day job to allow time to finish the upgrade utility, so I'd hold out on PHP8 support.

Thanks. I think I'll opt for the two-step upgrade. That way we won't be rushed to get things working right.
