UBB.threads PHP Forum Software Community Forums UBB.threads Version 7/8 Support Clicking on edit user profile timing out

Hi guys.

I can browse my forums and access the control panel as normal. However, when I look up a particular user and click on their name (to unban them) it hangs and times out every time. Then I can't browse the forums for a few moments.

I have shared hosting. My host says the CPU is exceeding it's limits.

I also have wordpress on the same server and that's working fine. It's not a particularly busy site.

Any ideas what's happening?

Also, is there a way to unban a user in the database until I find a resolution?

UBB.threads is a simple PHP script, it uses standard MySQL queries to fetch data from the database, with a huge database comes lag from having to sift through a large amount of content to retrieve the right posts. As we update for each new version of PHP we're striving to refine old database queries for clarity and speed (remember that this was initially a PHP4 script based on a Perl script).

You could try trimming out old data, or upgrade resources on the machine, there's not much else one can do other than leveraging a Content Delivery Network (CDN) to block bad bot traffic...
