Hi,

I'm in a situation where i'm going to have to move WEB HOSTS.
1&1.com - 100mb SQL Database Limit frown

I'm based in the U.K. (Europe)
But i keep getting drawn over the US WEBHOSTING
because of the amazing rates they offer.

Because of the rates ive seen i'm thinking of going
VDS Virtual Dedicated Server.

I need
5gb Webspace
Mysql (No Limits)
30 Domains allowed.
php 4 or 5

What is important to me is speed,
and obviously up time.

Do you have any recomendations of web hosts?
What Should I be aware of?
Pros Cons...

Your Recomendations would be appreciated smile
Mark

One that has caught my eye is godaddy.com
x3 cheaper than the UK.

Mark,

We host our own sites, but use GoDaddy for domain registration and some DNS.

In the last 4 years I have only lost DNS 1 time and that was for about 5 minutes.

i can downgrade my current webhost to domain reg only
but that's 2 bills.

They look very competative to me.

Its good to know that they have a track record,
not just starting up with bugs etc..

I'm assuming that threads this forum
is hosted in seatle, and the speed seems fine to me
as the transatlanic hop seems acceptable.

Support, and Transatlantic Hop are part of my concerns.

humm....

I understand about the hop. You have to take in response time and hop count. As you probably know the more in either will be bad.

Can you do a tracert to a GoDaddy server to see what the hop count and response times are?

One thing about the DNS servers. I have used several companies. While some others might offer it now, GoDaddy was one of the first ones I used where you could completely manage your DNS for free and it didn't put a stupid ad at the bottom of your web page like some hosting companies.
