Just like it says. I know I am overlooking something but how does one turn off ratings. I seem not to be able to see this option in either the config or theme settings?

I don't see a way in 5.5.1 (although I was looking at the php file not a running board).

Rick?

There are no ratings in 5.5.1 that I see.

I was talking about version 6. I see so searching more that it is a template issue although it would have been alot easier to add a control panel function with an on and off switch like UBB.

I hope Rick when all is said and done either adds this switch or provides templates to exchange.

Yep,
Don't think you can "turn it off" you've got to find and edit it out of the templates.

Yes, some things don't have an actual on/off switch like the ratings. This is to keep the templates as powerful as possible. Eventually we should be able to have alternate templates that would allow you to just replace the current ones to turn things like that off.

specifically
what do we need to edit to turn ratings off...
I tried to just erase the templates and that doesn't work

The easiest thing would be to visit www.threadsdev.com. There are some pre-edited templates in the "Templates" forum that have ratings turned off so you'd just need to replace the stock ones with those.

Yes, there are some templates out there, but none for 6.02 yet. I'm leary to use older templates on new UBBT versions.

In addition, I've tried to simply comment out the User Ratings and it cuts off my 'Last Post' column in the main category page.

I'd love to see some simple instructions to remove User Ratings for 6.02.

Thanks!

Hi guys,

I understand the general issue of moving things to templates.

I have followed the thread and tried the template posted at ubbdev with no success.

This is not SMALL issue. I have used threads a long long time now and I love it. However this rating stuff goes against everything I try to develop in my communities.

I REALLY want it off. Can we get some templates here where we can all find them and use them. It's clear I am hardly the only one having this problem.

We need a clean set of templates we can upload and fix it. I just spent a lot of time reading through all the threads and trying different things suggested...UGH

Please if there is a simple fix let's make it a priority and give it to us in the simplest form
-- templates posted here and clearly marked that will dothe job.

Thanks...
I'm sorry if I am sounding frustrated..but..well...I am <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

Best
Renee

sending us to threadsdev is not fair :-) on a new feature that so many want turned off... my members just hate the ratings...

I went to threadsdev and was not able to figure out what to do... several people are offering solution but they do not seem to wark in all cases... as there is some discussion and corrections... not all UBB.threadsâ„¢ 6.0.1 users are familiar with code... I am just to scared to try what they offer there...

Could you just tell us exactly what to do so it wil work on the original version

I just installed UBB.threadsâ„¢ 6.0.1

We're working on a better system for templates for download so it's not quite so hard to find a template that you're looking for. I'll try and get something up shortly if this is going to be a bit yet.

My users want me to go back to the UBBclassic because of these ratings. We need a fix as soon as possible.
I am also one that doesn't do code so I'll have to take someone's word that it will work when I edit the template. I would like a fix from the developer of UBB.Threads not from a user on another site.
Could you please raise this problem to a higher priority.

Thanks

I just posted a zip over on threadsdev with the altered templates:

noratings zipfile

On a side note, even those people that aren't good with code don't be too afraid to look at the template files. It might sound like code but actually these are just HTML files. You can load these into an HTML editor and modify to suit your tastes.

Yes, I too would like to know if there are instructions to take out ALL rating systems in 6.0.2 as well.

Rick, you are the greatest! Thanks for the templates for us "code challenged" folks. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

Oh, and for those who are wondering, these templates worked flawlessly in 6.0.2

Yes, these will work on 6.0.1. If anyone downloaded the zip before this post, you'll want to download again. I missed 2 spots that had the ratings displayed.

I can't access that site. I can't access this file.

I am a member there, but if I sign in, I get nothing but a blank page. If I don't sign in, I can only access what non-members can access.

I have asked for help there, but no response yet. (To give them credit, the problem has been there for many months, and I only recently asked for help.)

This basicaly makes that board the same as useless to me. I need a link that I can follow from here. (The above link just gets me to an access denied page.)

In the past couple of days, there have been at least 5 problems I have had, that I COULD have gotten answers to without asking anyone else, just by reading here. COULD have, because I still haven't gotten the answers. Reason being, the final answer is sitting somewhere on threadsdev, and I am directed there... Absolutely no good to me

To get back on the topic...

Is there anywhere else that I can get the template files to get rid of the ratings ?

My users will revolt. I will have an empty forum in no time, if I open back up, with a user rating system in place.

The same as for Kemetonline, and dbuyers... in my case, this is NO small thing. It is a major issue with my users.

I need this A.S.A.P.

Here is an updatedno user rating template set for 6.1.1. threadsdev is the only place I have to upload this right now. If you're current account doesn't work you might try registering a new one so you can grab this until your main one gets fixed.

Thank you for the reply, Rick.

<img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

I had already thought of that, but I only have one email address. I am not going to open my computer to the evil wiles of things like hotmail, or yahoo just to get a new account at threadsdev.

I just tried again, anyway, and still get the message that they already have an account for that email address.

So... I emailed them, and asked them to delete my account.

So that I can start a new one. LOL

<img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

Thanks again for your reply.

Hey, I know.. Is there any way that I can be emailed the templates ?

I did remove the ratings but then added them or kept them in the member profiles...
It is nice to rate members when the results are discreet... then nobody complains about or post about their stars...

Seeing the rating is a great plus before sending messages to members... if they are trouble and have a poor rating: I just ban them

If they have a good rating I try to steer them in the right direction

Rick,

Thank you once again for all your help.

The problem turns out to be a javascript error. If I turn off javascript I can get in there just fine. I have a funky looking screen, and it seems to affect everything else on the computer, so I have to do my bit and get out. But at least I know what the problem is now, and can work around it.

I am going to be trying a different browser soon.

Thanks again.
