I have never been as confused as I am now. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="images/icons/frown.gif" /> According to the Threads installation guide file permission 666 means "that the Owner, Group, and Others have read and execute permission.

When I set the read & execute permissions for all user groups using WIN_FTP then it says that the 555 setting has been employed.

When I set read & write for these files (without execute) then it says 666.

I'm really irritated about this because it's making the installation of the software more complicated than it should be. What am I supposed to do, set things as the instructions suggest but as 555, or go with 666 even though the settings are supposedly different?

Sorry about any confusion. Looks like a typo in the instructions. The actually permissions that are listed in the instructions ARE correct, but the explanation about what the 666 permission level is is NOT correct.

Where the instructions say:
"666 means that the Owner, Group, and Others have read and execute permission."

That is incorrect. What that should say is:

"666 means that the Owner, Group, and Others have read and write permission."

We will update our instructions to reflect this change.
