I am now getting a user that in his words: When I try to log on it just returns me to the register user page ! however he was ok on the perl side (lol).
I said it might be a cookie thing although 3 other users including myself are ok. So he deleted his cookie and tried again but still no joy. BUT now when he uses the perl side (dark side hehe) in his words: im logging in and get my control panel with all me admin options etc but as soon as i change to a different page im logged out again ???
Definitely sounds like a cookie thing. The only thing that keeps track of if you are logged in or out is cookies. So if he's getting this on both, then it must be cookies. Normally if you close down your browser, and then go in and manually delete the cookies with windows explorer, it will work. If you leave your browser open or do it in the wrong order then it will cause even more problems.

looks like I spoke too soon he is back on but he has reregistered ! said the previous name still has the trouble, looks like a one off though so we will leave it there and Ill tell him its his IE unless anyone else has expierenced this.
Ok this is what is happening and what i have done to try and cure it.
On joining the site im not logged in, so i click on login (surprised ya there eh <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> )
I then fill out my user name and password and click on login. This takes me back to the list of forums but im still not logged in.
I deleted the cookie from the perl version and tried again..still no luck, did the same thing.
Clint suggested that it may be a cookie problem, i couldnt remember if i still had IE open or not so i made sure it was shut down and deleted every cookied on the computer. (And rebooted for good luck) it didnt work <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="images/icons/frown.gif" /> cause i still cant login.
I registered a new username and i can log in and out with this no problem, so does that mean that my IE is ok ?? I would of thought if it was a IE problem it would happen on the new username as well as the old one.
The problem is only with the PHP version of the site, i can still log in and out no problem on the PERL version.
Hmm, can anyone else login to the PHP version using your username/password? Or do you have a different browser you could try with? The only thing I can think of is that it would be a browser thing because your login status is all done via cookies. I can't think of any other reason why there would be a problem. I've logged into both the PERL and PHP forums on the site with no problems.

I think I had the same problem. I posted it on the old w3t site but I can't find it.
In my case I installed the perl version, registered - logged in, everything was fine.
I then installed the php version (different database), registered (same user name) tried logging in but no joy.
It fixed itself though. If memory serves, I logged into the perl version, opened another browser window (ie 5.5), and was able to log into the php version with no problems. Its been fine ever since.
Yeah Clint used my username and password and logged in no problem. My thinking was if its a browser problem why can i log in and out under a different username without any problem??
I'm looking for a non-usa distributor for a vg-30 (nissan 3.0 v6 from a z). I'm running a carb, no efi. Putting in a '72 datsun 510 wagon. My new sleeper car!
Gotta use your site, I might get some answers there <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />
I hate to be the one who brings this up, but each new day Clint Gaskin greets us with another PHP problem here in transition questions. Shouldn't these queries be posted to a more appropriate forum such as General Q&A (PHP)?
It's quite likely that more people that could help you are listening to that forum.
Some things about IE6 I have found... Some times it is buggy... I have a friend who cant see frames... but I can see just fine... my suggestion would be to try using NetScape 4.77 see what happens... it that works fine... try reinstalling IE6...
Hmm, have you tried changing your password to something different via the PERL side? That is really strange. I don't know why someone else would be able to login with your name but you can't. If it's doing it with Netscape as well, then I guess it's not cookies (you didn't log into the PERL site first did you?)

Ok, can you set your password to something that you don't use, and then email me your login info, so I can give it a try? If so, then you can email it to me at []rbaker@infopop.com[/]
