I am going to be upgrading from UBB Classic in the very near future, probably within the next couple of months.

UBB Classic has been a very good system, we have been running it happily for over 2 years. But even with our own server it came to a complete halt last weekend. The load hit 100% and stayed there for about an hour. In the finish we had to shut the board. This is not UBBs fault just our promotion was a bigger success than we expected and we got swamped, price of success I guess

So now we pretty much have to upgrade to Threads. I have two questions that will help me immensely
1)What features of Classic are not available in Threads
2)Can anyone give me an idea of how many simulteous users you can get on a dedicated server? (We are running an AMD Athlon 1200, with IDE disks)

Thanks for your time

We went from Classic to Threads about 9 months ago, and couldn't be happier. Back then there were some things that users missed, like the "quote" option. But newer versions (like the one you'll be getting) have gone back to that welcome feature. The other thing that confuses "migrants" is that now they must reply to an individual post, not just the thread itself. But they'll get used to it.

In terms of concurrent users, we had ours set to 110. We bumped into that limit this week, and raised it again. The limits will be imposed by your mySQL settings, for instance, and not UBB Threads itself.

Running with 120 users concurrently it's still lightening fast.

I've seen Threads sites that have 400 or more users online at a time.

I just checked out Fishing for Deals which is a fairly busy site.
They currently had: There are 190 registered and 125 anonymous users online

Are user numbers the same as ubb.clasic. I'm planning on moving over to ubb.threads in the next few weeks and our UBB.classic # at one time is around 450. I'm assuming load should be equal or less? Not more?

I don't believe user numbers are preserved in the import.

Threads uses user numbers a little differently than Classic did.

User#1 for example is a placeholder user for anonymous users and users who have been deleted.

User#2 is the primary admin.... the first user that gets created when you install threads.

Then starting with #3... the rest of your users will import... although I don't believe they are in any particular order.

Opps, yes, I realized that usernumbers are a little different. I "SHOULD" have written, are "concurent usernumbers" the same between both products. IE users in the last 30 minutes. Just to get an idea with loads. We peak at around 450 users in the last 30minutes on UBB.classic right now.

The threads online table tracks people for 10 minutes.
